Daughter's 911 call to report megachurch pastor is released

By George Howell, CNN

Atlanta (CNN) - With a calm voice and collected manner about her, a 15-year-old girl called Fayette County 911 to report that her father assaulted her. The call led police to the suburban Atlanta home of megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar and ultimately resulted in a night behind bars on Friday.

The audio from the phone call was released Tuesday.

“I just got into an altercation with my father. He punched me and threatened to choke me,” the girl told a 911 dispatcher. “Um, this is not the first time that this has happened. I feel threatened by being in this house. Um… I don’t know, I don’t know what can be done. But I’m scared, I’m shaking.“

Dollar publicly denied punching or choking his teenage daughter during Sunday service at World Changers International Church, but in the police report, he admitted emotions ran high very early Friday morning and he attempted to “restrain” his daughter when she became “disrespectful.”

In the 911 tapes, the teen explained to the dispatcher that her father attacked her because of grades and a dispute about a party that she wanted to attend.

CNN’s Belief Blog: The faith angles behind the biggest stories

“It was a previous argument about me going to a party on Saturday. And he brought up grades and I started crying so I walked out the room to the kitchen with my sister. It was just me and my sister in the kitchen. He followed me while I was crying and he kept asking me why I was crying. And I said I do not want to talk to you. And he went off. That’s when he went off,” Dollar's daughter says on the tape.

According to the police report, an investigator also interviewed Dollar’s 19-year-old daughter, who backed up her younger sister’s account of what allegedly happened.

Megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar on his daughter: 'She was not punched'

In the 911 audio, the young victim explained that her father became increasingly aggressive.

“He came, he put his arm around my neck. Choked me and bent me over the table and I pushed him off of me and he threw me on the ground and punched me in my face. And this is going on for a good two, three minutes. Then my mom came in the room, and he stopped. And my mom asked him what happened, and he said I hit him first. Which is a lie,” she told the dispatcher.

Creflo Dollar's prosperity gospel finds followers and critics

Police took Dollar into custody and charged him with simple battery and cruelty to children.  Dollar told his congregation that this a family matter and also flatly stated, “I should not have been arrested.”

Dollar is a controversial pastor in the Atlanta area and is best known for preaching a prosperity gospel – a belief that the better Christian you are, the more wealth you will acquire.  His church claims 30,000 members, and he has a popular television ministry as well.

      Oh yeah, outlaw religion and there's gonna be massacre on a scale that you couldn't imagine. But really...if I was that guy I'd throw the little whinny brat out on the streets for a week or two. Doubt he did anything to her. She's probably making it all up.

    So, the teenager doesn't get her way about going to the party, so she disrespects her dad by turning away from him during the argument and says she doesn't want to talk to him. Then, she CALMLY calls 911 and CALMLY says her dad punched her in the face. So, I have to wonder about the vaildity of her story. The report doesn't say anything about if she had marks on her face or not. Did she have marks on her neck from the choke-hold? Despite the fact the man is just out to get his congregation's money, we have to look at whether or not the teenager is telling the truth, and we can't do that without more information. We need to leave the "unethical religious practices" apsect out of this and focus on the domestic situation at hand and whether or not a crime was actually committed.

      Jill, her older sister CONFIRMED the victim's story. It's clear that $$ is the aggressor here. The younger sister was NOT "disrespecting" daddy $$, it's the other way around. He has NO business placing his hands on his younger daughter in an aggressive manner.

      What more information do you need???

    I am from South Africa, I just read all these comments from all the different places, and I must say that I am amused by them all. The sad part of all this is the fact that, there is a Allmighty Living God who created each one of us to His Image. You were created to Glorify Him and not the world. His breathe is in you and that is the only reason why you are still alive. If He decides to withdraw His breathe you will not be alive. But you see He will not do that because He loves each one of us so much that He gave His only Son to die for each of us so we can be saved and have an eternal life. The reason why God said the road to Heaven is narrow and the road to Hell is wide is because of all the people who rejects Him and rather believe all the rubbish and lies that satan is feeding you all. God never created hell for mankind, it was created for satan and the fallen angels. But satan is not stupid, he is making very sure that he will take Gods perfect creation with him to hell. So all of you who does not believe, you only have two choices, heaven or hell, God or satan, have eternal life or eternal hell. If you think it does not exist, well my friends we as children of God knows what the Bible teaches us and tells us in the book of Revelations. We are living in the end times and the coming of Jesus is much closer than what you think. Trust me your worst nightmare will be the day when you will have to stand before an Allmighty Living God to be judged, that will be your worst nightmare and then it will be too late to repent. Do it now while there is still time , while His Grace is still on earth.
    Jesus loves you all and all you have to do is give your heart to Him and believe He is the Son of God and you will inherit eternal live.

    So that is you choice and it is yours alone, nobody can make that choice for you. Neither can you oneday say that nobody told you about Jesus either because I just did. Dont believe satan he only wants to destroy you nothing else. He is is lair and a thief. Jesus is alive and He is coming again and He loves you.

    If you have nothing to believe in then what is the purpose of living. There are grerater powers at work and although you cannot prove God exists, God does. Just because others perish does not mean that prayer could have saved them. God does not have to answer to anyone because he gave us life.

    Random shootings, car accidents, natural disasters they all happen and you know what, they keep us in perspective and in constant reminder we aren't here forever. The mission of the bible is to teach us how to create a better life for ourselves and others.

    You cannot pray and expect something in return, it doesn't work like that. God performs miracles when they are a part of His plan. You cannot understand His plan, you just have to accept your role in this world and do the best you can with it.

    Look at the athiests and non-believers. The majority of them are not happy deep down. Their comments on here are just proof there is anger in them and I have to say it's because you have no direction. It's a 9-5 with no deisre to grow and so you spend your life critizing others because they have a drive.

    Take a step back. Go out into the wilderness along a river or mountian range, sit and listen. You'll find your answers in time.

    II don't think it had anything to do with religion. He was just an angry, clueless, egotistic dad who was trying to control his daughter's behavior. Many a times people do not know where and when to stop which. A person shouts at another person out of helplessness and because he/she is clueless and is trying too hard.

      "He was just an angry, clueless, egotistic dad who was trying to control his daughter's behavior."

      And I wonder where a religious person gets the idea that .it's right and proper to control a daughter's behaviour? Jesus spends a lot of time telling women how to "be good," and none of that includes having their own lives or preferences. Religion spends a lot of its time justifying and facilitating the domination of vulnerable populations, especially women and children.

      I agree, sometimes children push all the wrong buttons because they know what will make you angry. The trick to good parenting is to know what is going on before you react to the "button pushing". Sounds like this guy needs parenting classes. Also, I do NOT believe that the better Christian you are the weathier you will be as a reward. Earthly rewards are not promised to us, our reward is in doing for others as we would like done to us, in helping one another and in being helped. Jesus was a prophet who tried to teach us that the world does not revolve around individuals, it needs all of us to make it heavenly. Heaven is not some place in the clouds, "...the Father's kingdom is spread out upon the earth, and people don't see it." (Gospel of Thomas).

  10. Prayer is not healthy for children and other living things

    Prayer takes people away from actually working on real solutions to their problems.
    Prayer has been shown to have no discernible effect towards what was prayed for.
    Prayer makes you frothy like Rick Santorum. Just go to http://santorum.com to find out more.
    Prayer prevents you from getting badly needed exercise.
    Prayer makes you fat, pale, weak, and sedentary.
    Prayer wears out your clothes prematurely.
    Prayer contributes to global warming through excess CO2 emissions.
    Prayer fucks up your knees and your neck and your back.
    Prayer can cause heart attacks, especially among the elderly.
    Prayer reveals how stupid you are to the world.
    Prayer exposes your backside to pervert priests.
    Prayer makes you think doilies are exciting.
    Prayer makes you secretively flatulent and embarrassed about it.
    Prayer makes your kids avoid spending time with you.
    Prayer gives you knobbly knees.

      Prayer doesn’t not; you are such a LIAR. You have NO proof it changes anything! A great example of prayer proven not to work is the Christians in jail because prayer didn't work and their children died. For example: Susan Grady, who relied on prayer to heal her son. Nine-year-old Aaron Grady died and Susan Grady was arrested.

      An article in the Journal of Pediatrics examined the deaths of 172 children from families who relied upon faith healing from 1975 to 1995. They concluded that four out of five ill children, who died under the care of faith healers or being left to prayer only, would most likely have survived if they had received medical care.

      The statistical studies from the nineteenth century and the three CCU studies on prayer are quite consistent with the fact that humanity is wasting a huge amount of time on a procedure that simply doesn’t work. Nonetheless, faith in prayer is so pervasive and deeply rooted, you can be sure believers will continue to devise future studies in a desperate effort to confirm their beliefs!

    This is my experience... Thank you.

    MY personal testimony.
    A thought to consider without an ego response

    Accept Jesus christ as your lord and saviour. You never know how soon is too late. Transcend the worldly illusion of enslavement.
    The world denounces truth....

    Accepting Jesus Christ (for me) resulted in something like seeng a new colour. You will see it .....but will not be able to clearly explain it to anyone else..... Its meant to be that way to transend any selfism within you.

    Also... much the world arranges "surrounding dark matter into something to be debated" in such a way that protects/inflates the ego.

    The key is be present and transcend our own desire to physically see evidence. We don't know anyways by defending our own perception of dark matter.

    Currently.... most of us are constructing our own path that suits our sin lifestyle. Were all sinners. Knowing that we are is often an issue. But both christians and non are sinners.

    We don't like to Let go and let god. We want control to some degree. This is what Jesus asks us to do. "Follow me".
    It's the hardest thing to do... but is done by letting the truth of scripture lead you (redemptive revelation)... as I said .

    Try reading corinthians and see if it makes sense to you. Try it without a pre conceived notion of it being a fairy tale.
    See the truth...
    do we do what it says in todays society... is it relevant... so many have not recently read and only hinge their philosophy on what they have heard from som other person...which may have been full of arogance pride or vanity..

    Look closely at the economy ponzi, look at how society idolizes Lust , greed , envy, sloth, pride of life, desire for knowledge, desire for power, desire for revencge,gluttony with food etc .

    Trancsend the temporal world.

    Just think if you can find any truth you can take with you ....in any of these things. When you die your riches go to someone who will spend away your life..... You will be forgotten.... history will repeat iteslf.... the greatest minds knowledge fade or are eventually plagerzed..... your good deeds will be forgotten and only give you a fleeting temporary reward . your learned teachings are forgotten or mutated..... your gold is transfered back to the rullers that rule you through deception. Your grave will grow over . This is truth .

    Trancsend your egoism and free yourself from this dominion of satan. Understand you are a sinner and part of the collective problem of this worldly matrix... Repent.... Repent means knowing (to change) The Holy spirit (within) will convict you beyond what you think you can do by yourself. Grace is given to those who renounce the world. That are" in" the world but not "of " the world.

    Evidence follows faith. Faith does not follow evidence..... Faith above reason in Jesus Christ.

    Faith comes by Reading or Hearing the word of god from the bible . Ask Jesus in faith for dicernment and start reading the new testament... You will be shocked when you lay down your preconceived notions and ....see and hear truth ... see how christ sets an example ... feel the truth....

    Read Ecclesiastes. Read corinthians.

    You cant trancend your own egoism by adapting a world philosophy to suit your needs. Seek the truth in Christ.

    Sell all your cleverness and purchase true bewilderment. You don't get what you want ....you get what you are in christ.

    I promise this has been the truth for me. In Jesus christ .

    Think of what you really have to lose. ...your ego?

    Break the Matrix of illusion that holds your senses captive.

    once you do . you too will have the wisdom of God that comes only through the Holy Spirit. Saved By grace through Faith. Just like seeing a new colour.... can't explain it to a transient caught in the matrix of worldly deception.
    You will also see how the world suppresses this information and distorts it

    You're all smart people . I tell the truth. Its hard to think out of the box when earthly thinking is the box.
    I'ts a personal free experience you can do it free anytime . Don't wait till you are about to die.. START PUTTING YOUR TREASURES WHERE THEY REALLY MATTER >
    Its awsome and It's just between you and Jesus

    my testimony

    Romans 10:9

    "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved

    A few questions should help shed light on the relationship between religion and rational thought.

    The completely absurd theory that all 7,000,000,000 human beings are simultaneously being supervised 24 hours a day, every day of their lives by an immortal, invisible being for the purposes of reward or punishment in the “afterlife” comes from the field of:

    (a) Children’s fairytales;

    (b) Medieval mythology;

    (c) New age pseudo science; or

    (d) Christianity

    You are about 70% likely to believe the entire Universe began less than 10,000 years ago with only one man, one woman and a talking snake if you are a:

    (a) historian;

    (b) geologist;

    (c) NASA astronomer; or

    (d) Christian

    I honestly believe that, when I think silent thoughts like, “please god, help me pass my exam tomorrow,” some invisible being is reading my mind and will intervene and alter what would otherwise be the course of history in small ways to help me. I am

    (a) a delusional schizophrenic;

    (b) a naïve child, too young to know that that is silly

    (c) an ignorant farmer from Sudan who never had the benefit of even a fifth grade education; or

    (d) your average Christian

    I have convinced myself that gay $ex is a choice and not genetic, but then have no explanation as to why only gay people have ho.mo$exual urges. I am

    (a) A gifted psychologist

    (b) A well respected geneticist

    (c) A highly educated sociologist

    (d) A Christian with the remarkable ability to ignore inconvenient facts.

    Millions and millions of Catholics believe that bread and wine turns into the actual flesh and blood of a dead Jew from 2,000 years ago because:

    (a) there are obvious visible changes in the condiments after the Catholic priest does his hocus pocus;

    (b) tests have confirmed a divine presence in the bread and wine;

    (c) now and then their god shows up and confirms this story; or

    (d) their religious convictions tell them to blindly accept this completely fvcking absurd nonsense.

    I believe that an all powerful being, capable of creating the entire cosmos watches me have $ex to make sure I don’t do anything “naughty”. I am

    (a) A victim of child molestation

    (b) A r.ape victim trying to recover

    (c) A mental patient with paranoid delusions

    (d) A Christian

    The only discipline known to often cause people to kill others they have never met and/or to commit suicide in its furtherance is:

    (a) Architecture;

    (b) Philosophy;

    (c) Archeology; or

    (d) Religion

    What is it that most differentiates science and all other intellectual disciplines from religion:

    (a) Religion tells people not only what they should believe, but what they are morally obliged to believe on pain of divine retribution, whereas science, economics, medicine etc. has no “sacred cows” in terms of doctrine and go where the evidence leads them;

    (b) Religion can make a statement, such as “there is a composite god comprised of God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit”, and be totally immune from experimentation and challenge, whereas science can only make factual assertions when supported by considerable evidence;

    (c) Science and the scientific method is universal and consistent all over the World whereas religion is regional and a person’s religious conviction, no matter how deeply held, is clearly nothing more than an accident of birth; or

    (d) All of the above.

    If I am found wandering the streets flagellating myself, wading into a filth river, mutilating my child’s genitals or kneeling down in a church believing that a being is somehow reading my inner thoughts and prayers, I am likely driven by:

    (a) a deep psychiatric issue;

    (b) an irrational fear or phobia;

    (c) a severe mental degeneration caused by years of drug abuse; or

    (d) my religious belief.

    Who am I? I don’t pay any taxes. I never have. Any money my organization earns is tax free and my own salary is also tax free, at the federal, state and local level. Despite contributing nothing to society, but still enjoying all its benefits, I feel I have the right to tell others what to do. I am

    (a) A sleazy Wall Street banker

    (b) A mafia boss

    (c) A drug pusher; or

    (d) A Catholic Priest, Protestant Minister or Jewish Rabbi.

    What do the following authors all have in common – Jean Paul Sartre, Voltaire, Denis Diderot, Victor Hugo, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Immanuel Kant, David Hume, René Descartes, Francis Bacon, John Milton, John Locke, and Blaise Pascal:

    (a) They are among the most gifted writers the World has known;

    (b) They concentrated on opposing dogma and opening the human mind and spirit to the wonders of free thought and intellectual freedom;

    (c) They were intimidated by the Catholic Church and put on the Church’s list of prohibited authors; or

    (d) All of the above.

    The AIDS epidemic will kill tens of millions in poor African and South American countries before we defeat it. Condoms are an effective way to curtail its spread. As the Pope still has significant influence over the less educated masses in these parts of the World, he has exercised this power by:

    (a) Using some of the Vatican’s incomprehensible wealth to educate these vulnerable people on health family planning and condom use;

    (b) Supporting government programs that distribute condoms to high risk groups;

    (c) Using its myriad of churches in these regions to distribute condoms; or

    (d) Scaring people into NOT using condoms, based upon his disdainful and aloof view that it is better that a person die than go against the Vatican’s position on contraceptive use.

  20. The Knight of God

    False preachers, prophets, apostles like this one are prone to be exposed. Even if they don't, they are to face the God they mocked in the afterlife. So its a "loser's" life. I think about Joel Osteen's book, "You're Best Life's Now" and that's exactly right. They have no chance at eternal life in their current state. It's a shame that so many people follow these wolves. But then, like sheep, they are dumb because they are unable to think, read, or study for themselves and are fed whatever these liars give them.

    People need to get into the Bible themselves and start studying. Stop listening to this preachers and expect them to be right all the time, you'd be surprise how many of them really just don't believe in the Gospel. I hate hearing when people defend these crooks to the end but they don't know a lick about God, Christ, Salvation, Heaven, Hell, etc. In the Word of God it preaches that, 2nd Timothy 6, only perverse men think that gain is godliness, only godliness with contentment is gain. If we were to be blessed with material riches then the parables of the rich man and such, the warning about love of money would be in vain. Not saying God wouldn't bless one in such a way, but it shouldn't be our primary concern. But the fact, Christ is coming back and everything we see will fade away. The teachings of Creflo Dollar, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers, along with many others will burn along with the ones who taught them. Repent and believe the Gospel of Christ!

    • Devil made me do it

      Or you could take any science, physics, critical thinking, anthropology, human history class and realize religion is complete bullsh•t. All of it, every single religion is made up stories and myths concocted by men. That's the truth. No heaven, no hell, no devil, no god.

      Herp derp. You actually believe in talking snakes and childish fairytales? You have no right to complain about this dude, you're not a real Christian. No one is, because there is no requirement. Literally anyone can say they're a Christian and there is absolutely no winning argument to prove they're not- kind of like the existence of god. Being a Christian is literally the least exclusive club in the world. Rapist? Murderer? Join 99% of the prison population and be a Christian! It's absurd, you're on the wrong side of history and your beliefs are ridiculous. Grow up.

      Well said! Don't believe everything the pastor says. Look in the Book and read it for yourselves. Study God's Word and get understanding of who He is.
