Chick-fil-A wades into a fast-food fight over same-sex marriage rights

By Sarah Aarthun, CNN

Atlanta (CNN) - Ordering lunch just got a lot more complicated than deciding how to answer, "Do you want fries with that?"

Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy sparked reactions that were swift and strong after he weighed in on same-sex marriage by saying his company backs the traditional family unit.

Politicians from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to former GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum spoke up. Supporters and opponents of same-sex marriage protested. And suddenly, the type of fast-food bag you carry could reveal your views on a hot-button social issue that has split the country.

Some proponents of same-sex marriage have decried Cathy's comments and called for a boycott of the chain, which had annual sales of more than $4.1 billion last year and has more than 1,615 locations in 39 states and Washington, D.C., with the strongest concentration in the Southeast.

I don't think it is possible for me to care less about what the religious or political views of the owner of a national restraunt chain are. Chick-fil-a makes good chicken products, so I will eat there. If there was a major chain that supported all my ideals and opinions but their food wasn't any good, I wouldn't eat there.

i agree with Kerk Cameron, marriage is a theological issue lets keep it that way government can only hand out the certificates and benefits, for Christan the can have what God calls marriage, for atheist and the like, civil unions (going to a judge will do) for pagans were cool with gay marriage,..that being said here a shot list of religions who are good with gay marriage

Wicca, Shinto, Pagan , Zoroastrian, Tao, (some) Hindu, Ecoist, the list goes one

let your religion decide or lack of and keep your religion out of other peoples religion unless the religions allow for intermingling like pagan

PS Christians stop hindering my religious right to gay marriage, show some respect for you elders
pagans were her first and we defined marriage between two or more people, so stop destroying "traditional" marriage...as if Christians know what tradition is

Atheists who marry in a civil ceremony are still married, Sam. That's the difference. A civil marriage is still a marriage. A civil union is not the same. Separate but equal has NEVER been just.

Q: Why doesn't Chik Fil A serve wings?

A: Because they don't want to serve 'left wings' and have no way to tell them apart from the 'right wings'.

exaggeration: "if you disagree with me that means you hate me."
self-unaware: "we're so inclusive that you're not welcome here."
illogical: holding up a sign that say "God hates hate." so he hates himself for hating hate?
hypocrisy: saying "down with hate groups" while organizing a rally as one

both sides are guilty of all of the above in some form.
it's not a conversation. it's an election year.
