Sikhs repair, reclaim temple after rampage

From Ted Rowlands, CNN

Oak Creek, Wisconsin (CNN) - Members of the Sikh temple where six people died in a weekend rampage swept, scrubbed and painted over damage to their building Thursday after investigators allowed them back inside.

A lone bullet hole remained in a metal door frame, which members say won't be repaired. The doorway leads to the main prayer area, where the only female victim - 41-year-old Paramjit Kaur - was killed.

But elsewhere, the congregation was busy polishing the tile floors, touching up patched drywall and replacing carpet, using donated supplies; and reopening the dining hall, where the SIkhs run an open kitchen for the community. Several members wept as they walked in, while others embraced.

"It takes a toll on you, thinking about the lives that were lost, when you realize our temple will never be the same again," said Kanwardeep Singh Kaleka, whose uncle Satwant Singh Kaleka was among those dead.

i just want to share my experience and testimony here.. i was married for 4 years to my husband and all of a sudden, another woman came into the picture.. he started hailing me and he was abusive..but i still loved him with all my heart and wanted him at all cost…then he filed for divorce..my whole life was turning apart and i didn't know what to do..he moved out of the house and abandoned the kids.. so someone told me about trying spiritual means to get my husband back and introduced me to a spell caster…so i decided to try it reluctantly..although i didn't believe in all those things… then when he did the special prayers and spell, after 2days, my husband came back and was pleading..he had realized his mistakes..i just couldn't believe it.. anyways we are back together now and we are happy..in case anyone needs this man, his email address olotospellhome@yahoo.com his spells is for a better life. again his email is olotospellhome@yahoo.com

Next time I read a blog, Hopefully it doesn't disappoint me just as much as this particular one. After all, Yes, it was my choice to read through, nonetheless I truly thought you'd have something useful to talk about. All I hear is a bunch of crying about something you can fix if you weren't too busy searching for attention.

Howdy, I do believe your website could possibly be having internet browser compatibility problems. When I take a look at your web site in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it's got some overlapping issues. I just wanted to provide you with a quick heads up! Other than that, excellent website!

  7. Atheism is not healthy for children and other living things

    Prayer really changes things

Actually, atheism is wonderful for children and all people! Prayer as it turn out, is just a time-sucker-upper. Who would've thought. Meditation is ok for collecting one's thoughts, but it's best to keep all the make-believe characters to one's self.

Atheists have strong minds and encourage people to take responsibility for their actions within society instead of having their misdeeds excused and often hidden within their religion (comforting their weak minds, but simultaneously disserving society).

Break the matrix of deception by all religions. Break the fallacy of revelation.

If the thought leaving your imaginary friends behind is just too much, or makes you want to go p00py, then try Atheism Lite™ (agnosticism) for a period of time to ease your way into a much more rewarding, peaceful life.

Prayer does not; you are such a LIAR. You have NO proof it changes anything! A great example of prayer proven not to work is the Christians in jail because prayer didn't work and their children died. For example: Susan Grady, who relied on prayer to heal her son. Nine-year-old Aaron Grady died and Susan Grady was arrested.

An article in the Journal of Pediatrics examined the deaths of 172 children from families who relied upon faith healing from 1975 to 1995. They concluded that four out of five ill children, who died under the care of faith healers or being left to prayer only, would most likely have survived if they had received medical care.

The statistical studies from the nineteenth century and the three CCU studies on prayer are quite consistent with the fact that humanity is wasting a huge amount of time on a procedure that simply doesn’t work. Nonetheless, faith in prayer is so pervasive and deeply rooted, you can be sure believers will continue to devise future studies in a desperate effort to confirm their beliefs!* .

In fact they murdered the Indira Ghandi, and went to war with the Indiam Army.

Any cult is a bad cult, and this one is no better than the others

    August 10, 2012 at 10:49 am |
    • Simran

William, how much more prejudiced can individuals like you get? And please note, I said individual (not Christian).

Mrs Gandhi was killed by one Sikh, not all Sikhs, just like one Christian and not all Christians went on a rampage inside this temple of faith. And if you want to really understand the history of that time, what instigated her assassination, please read about Operation Blue Star and how the media and social activists were not allowed even a peep into what happened there in the Sikh shrine.

And no, by measure of thought will I say that she deserved what she got. NO, I WILL CONDEMN THE ACTIONS OF THE ONE WHO KILLED HER.

Also please read and get educated about the mass murders of innocent SIkhs that were instigated by Indira Gandhi's son (Mr Rajiv Gandhi, who years later got assassinated by people of his own faith) and the Congress govt across the country starting from the nation's capital (google 1984 anti-Sikh riots). Now, how were those people (both children and elderly included) ever responsible for Indira's assassination??? Rajiv Gandhi's justification for such insane mass killings was "When a big tree falls, the earth shakes". To me, a Sikh who witnessed the 1984 soul shaking event, I dont see Rajiv Gandhi or the Congress as Hindus. Bcoz many Hindus gave shelter to Sikhs and protected them. I see this as a mindless illogical irrational political disaster. That is history.

Now I refuse to relive in the hatred of the past, I have friends of all religions and have learnt from them all. I refuse to hate people bcoz they are of a different cast, color, creed, economic status, etc etc. And I refuse to judge any one but myself.

You sir are an idiot of the highest order, and couldn't have summed up your ignorance and pub based general knowledge any better than the fact based post made earlier. For god sake educate your self.

Please elaborate how atheism is not good for children and all living things??? Have you seen plants and ants and monkeys pray? Okay, I guess you only refer to humans here. My bad.
Getting back to children and humans – yes, I agree while religion is a way towards spirituality and helps in moral development, does this automatically mean that non-religion will lead to absence of spirituality and morality??? I can be good even if I dont pray. I can still have my own set of moral principles even if I dont identify with a particular set of faiths and principles. And I can still be good even if I think that earth was not created by God, we just evolved and are still evolving.

Also, how moral are many people who identify with religion??? I see a lot of hatred amongst men with different religions, right here on this Belief Blog... So how is religion helping here? Rather. too much focus on religion is only spreading more hatred and is poisoning minds.
