Girl held on Pakistan blasphemy chargeBy Katie Hunt and Nasir Habib, CNN (CNN) - An 11-year-old Christian girl has been arrested and detained on charges of blasphemy for allegedly desecrating pages from the Quran in the Pakistan capital Islamabad. According to a statement released by the President's office on Sunday, the girl, identified as Ramsha, was accused by a local resident of burning pages of the Muslim holy text after she gathered paper as fuel for cooking. Local media reports said the girl has Down syndrome. CNN was unable to confirm these reports, however Qasim Niazi, the police officer in charge of the police station near where the incident took place, said the girl did not have a mental disorder but was illiterate and had not attended school. The accused girl had told him she had no idea there were pages of the Quran inside the documents she burnt, he added. Niazi said that 150 people had gathered on Friday where the neighborhood's Christian population lived and threatened to burn down their houses. "The mob wanted to burn the girl to give her a lesson," he told CNN. Other Christian families living in the area have fled fearing a backlash, he added. FULL STORY

Two years back I went to Pakistan with my kids, they wanted to try Pakistani Kabob Samosa so they picked up Samosa and coca-cola at the Karachi station, and within 24 hours, they were admitted to ICU, 15 days later we booked return tickets to USA. My kids sworn on my third wife's grave, they would never go back to Pakistan. They say our landfills are more cleaner than Pakistani railway stations.
I have seen PIGS! man PIGS! roaming around on the Pakistani railway platform. The people who run food stalls sometime grab these pigs cut them into pieces and make shush kabob. it is true story. I eat pork so it wasn't a big deal.

Bizarre child-burying Hindu ceremony in India

Indian police have charged 80 people for burying children alive in an ancient Hindu ceremony known as "the festival of pits."
The ceremony, in which children - some less than a year old - are buried alive briefly and then dug up, happened on Monday in southern Tamil Nadu state, The Asian Age reported on Thursday.
Every two years, parents who have vowed to bury their first-born if they are blessed with a child, take part in the Kuzhimattru Thiru Vizha ceremony.
The children are drugged to make them unconscious and placed in shallow "graves" in temple courtyards.
The pits are covered with leaves and dirt and the children are pulled out after Hindu priests chant a brief prayer - lasting up to a minute.
I can't believe that cnn would do a story that would even begin to portray islam as it really is. Normally, cnn just gives you "islam lite". Now maybe they'll do a story of all the Egyptian Coptic Christians who will be killed on Friday thanks to Obama, Hillary, and Morsi. They are crucifying dissenters on trees in front ot the presidential palace. How awesome, huh? I can't wait for Christ's return and the END of islam. Prayer changes things .
Not true actually. It's really best for all people including children to have an agnostic approach to god, and an atheistic approach to all religion. Teaching kids to be agnostic helps reinforce their understanding of the new real things they can see and learn about in life. It helps them properly separate the known from the unknown without confusing them. They just need to be taught things that are unknown, like god, and things that are made up, like all religion.
Atheists have strong minds, and don't run and hide their misdeeds within their religion (and by doing so, disserving society).
Prayer is really just a time-sucker-upper. The best time to think about someone who is ill or just someone else you wish well is – well any time you can think about them or actually do something for them with your strong mind. So don't weaken your mind by adding in make-believe characters.
We have only begun to scratch the surface in using the mind to its maximum, and damaging it with made-up junk that politicians and salesmen dreamed up long ago is senseless, and as history has shown, is dangerous to society.
