New details emerge of anti-Islam film's mystery producer

By Moni Basu, CNN

(CNN) - Some time in the summer, a small theater in Los Angeles screened a movie to which hardly anyone came.

It was a clunky film filled with scenes in a desert and in tents. The characters were cartoonish; the dialogue gauche.

The actors who'd responded to a July 2011 casting call thought they were making an adventure film set 2,000 years ago called "Desert Warrior." That's how Backstage magazine and other acting publications described it.

The American-made movie, it turns out, was hardly an innocent Arabian Desert action flick.

I suppose I would watch the movie if it were at least well-made. I saw The Passion of the Christ and lost most of my Jewish friends for having done so. Some have since forgiven me. At any rate, if the movie was actually good and stared some really talented people would there be more violence or less?

    September 13, 2012 at 9:18 pm |

Total nonsense...those protest were not over some obscure film. They were over 9/11, unless folks believe it a coincidence which i certainly do not. I think the media is trying to spin this off, because the administration got caught with their pants down and the president has not been attending his security briefings, It is a scharade.

The unrest and attacks on US Embassies is a culmination of the rising tensions and deep-rooted hatred amongst civilizations in a divided world (Matthew 12:25,26). For a better understanding of the history of Islam and the Middle East we invite you to read the articles ‘World History and Developments in the Middle East’, ‘Clash of Civilizations’ and ‘CNN Belief Blog – Sign of the Times’, listed on our website http://www.aworlddeceived.ca

All of the other pages and articles listed on our website explain how and by whom this whole world has been deceived as confirmed in Revelation 12:9.

it is sad that so many people are indoctrinated into religion in the world, but thankfully in westernized countries, religion has evolved into little more than a social club for all but a few extremists.

I'm sorry "Atheism is not healthy for children and other living things", but you assertions regarding atheism and prayer are unfounded.

I see that you repeat these unfounded statements with high frequency. Perhaps the following book might help you overcome this problem:

All praise mohamed the prophet, lol. Now come get me you neanderthals!

I don't care if it was the movie that made them mad or a terrorist group planned it, because that was yesterday and today it is everyday muslims that are burning and rioting. Showing their true colors and acknowledging their support to the groups we call terrorist - which they call allies.

Enough of faith based religion, it is all childish imaginative fantasy without one single shred of evidence to support any of it. It is all insanity and it only gives people excuses to kill and behave immorally without having to try and think for themselves about what is right and wrong. All religious people are mentally lazy and too cowardly to take responsibility for themselves. All faith based religious people are to blame for 9/11 not just the Islamic.

    September 13, 2012 at 4:51 pm |
    • fred

Then faith based religion is responsible for Stalin and Mao etc. atrocities.

      September 13, 2012 at 5:27 pm |
    • ScottCA

Not for the communist atrocities those were caused by attempts to engineer society, based on a flawed understanding of innate human nature and a fallacious belief in humans beings as blank slates. The underlying ignorance is very similar to the ignorance spread by religion however. Both are instances of ignorance in logical reasoning and understanding of science especially in regards to human nature.

      September 13, 2012 at 6:02 pm |
    • ScottCA

The ignorance bred by religion regarding what human beings as containing a ghost in the machine led the way for the misconceptions believed by communists regarding human beings as blank slates, since both religion and communists envisioned human beings in this flawed conceptual manner, denying the evolved components of the brain and the innate nature we are born with due to our genetic make up. So yes in this manner by spreading the ignorance of science and misinformation regarding science and human nature that led to the misconceptions believed by communists, then Yes very much religion is to blame for Stalin and Mao's misconceptions. If science had not been opposed so violently by the church for so many centuries these mistakes would not have occurred.

People should never be afraid to parody any belief. Parody is an important logical tool meant to allow us to question even the most firmly held beliefs. Censoring parody is equivalent to censoring logic. It is to breed and welcome ignorance.

Would you keep quiet if some unrelated person stands in front of your house and makes derogatory comments about the members of your family, your kids, etc (who are important to you)? or would you go over and sock him in his pie hole? I know I would, and that raises the question of who is guiltier.. The man who was provocative or the man who was violent? Therein lies the problem

I found it highly ironic that one of the film's producers founded a group called Concerned Citizens for the First Amendment which actively seeks to limit 1st Amendment rights for others. Pathetic.

Did the so called profit mate with children?

Did he murder? Did he betray trusts? Did he make war on innocent people?

Did he have slaves or wives in bondage?

These are FACTUAL and REASONABLE questions, and if the Muslims don't like the answers, who is to blame?

Find the answers in the Koran and you will have the truth, if you can handle it.

I don't care for any of the big three cults, but I am somewhat disturbed by something.

Is the film reasonably accurate as compared to the Koran?

I know people don't like the thuth, but my impression from the readings I have had time to review seems to indicate that while nasty in tone, the portrayal seems for want of a better word, "accurate"

If someone speaks the truth and the truth hurts, is the speaker guilty of assault?
