What really enrages Muslims? Twitter knows

By Richard Allen Greene, CNN

What really enrages Muslims?

Having a really good hair day - but no one knows because you wear a hijab.

Not being able to say "Hi" to your friend Jack in a plane - or to call out for your nephew when he gets lost in an airport because his name is "Jihad."

The 72 virgins all turn out to be male.

The tongue-in-cheek answers are part of an explosion of sharply satirical responses on Twitter to a Newsweek magazine cover showing Muslim men in turbans and keffiyahs, apparently rioting, under the banner all caps headline "MUSLIM RAGE."

Thousands of Muslims have made fun of the magazine headline since Monday, when it published a long article by the Somali-born writer Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former Muslim who describes herself as a "combatant in the clash of civilizations."

She links this month's protests against an online film making fun of the Muslim prophet Mohammed - which have resulted in several deaths around the world, including that of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens - to the reaction in 1989 against Salman Rushdie's novel "The Satanic Verses."

"In 23 years not much has changed," Ali argues. "Islam's rage reared its ugly head again last week.

"The American ambassador to Libya and three of his staff members were murdered by a raging mob in Benghazi, Libya, possibly under the cover of protests against a film mocking the Muslim Prophet Muhammad," Ali writes.

Newsweek's cover puts Ali herself at the heart of the story about "Muslim rage," with the sub-heading: "How I survived it. How we can end it."

Ali, a sharp critic of Islamist violence and of what she sees as Europe's limp response to it, claims that the rioters represent mainstream Muslim views.

"The Muslim men and women (and yes, there are plenty of women) who support - whether actively or passively - the idea that blasphemers deserve to suffer punishment are not a fringe group. On the contrary, they represent the mainstream of contemporary Islam," she argues.

The "many Muslims and ex-Muslims" who "unambiguously condemn" the murders and riots "are marginalized and all too often indirectly held responsible for the very provocation."

But by Tuesday morning, on Twitter at least, far from being marginalized, those Muslims were relentlessly making fun of Newsweek and Ali.

One tweet showed the magazine cover doctored to make the rioting Muslim men look like glam rockers, replacing the headline with "Muslim Rave."

Remi Kanzai riffed on the same theme: "Just add nighttime & glow sticks. It goes from #MuslimRage to #MuslimRave."

Some of the more serious tweets dealt with the discrimination Muslims feel at airports: "When a 'female assist' is called before I even walk through the metal detector."

But many kept the mood light, complaining about work, family, Islamic restrictions on eating pork and drinking wine, or fasting during Ramadan.

"The Dark Knight Rises came out in Ramadan," one complained.

And some aimed their barbs directly at the writer of the provocative piece.

"Whaaaaat?!" Megh demanded. "Ayaan Hirsi Ali doesn't have an active Twitter account?!"

    What really enrages Muslims?

The question must actually be………….WHAT DOES NOT ENRAGE MUSLIMS?

And, the short answer for that is ………….ANYTHING THAT’s DEEMED UN-ISLAMIC!!!!!! Even if practiced in America, Europe, India, Australia (e.g. Idol worship, our dresses/or lack of it, our movies, schools etc.)

You don’t need to go to the ravines of Af-Pak or the streets of the Muslim world to realize that………….you can get that answer right here, amongst the so-called moderate, highly educated, much pampered COVERT ISLAMISTS such as CNN’s own Mr.FAREED ZAKARIA!!!!!

And, the GREATEST DANGER to western civilization, and the entire non-Muslim world is MUCH LESS from those KORANIC educated brainwashed Muslims BUT people like Mr.ZAKARIA who are misusing the west’s great freedoms to SUBVERT it from within (termed SILENT JIHAD which is NOT waged with swords or guns, but the MIGHTY PEN!!!).

GOD SAVE AMERICA IF Mr.ZAKARIA were to become the next US.SEC. OF STATE as it’s strongly rumored to be in a 2nd Obama admin.!!!!!

You mean the same Fareed Zakaria who happily accepts an invitation to sit on the panel of hated atheist Bill Maher's show Real Time? Get real......Zakaria self-identifies as a Muslim but has stated "I occasionally find myself reluctant to be pulled into a world that's not mine, in the sense that I'm not a religious guy."
In the 1980s he was seen as being neoconservative who supported President Ronald Reagen, but currently identifies himself as being "centrist", whilst Forbes, in 2009, referred to Zakaria as one of "The 25 Most Influential Liberals In The U.S. Media"...that's.not even close to a fundamentalist muslim radical now is it?

  5. What The !@##

When the Bamiyan Buddha statues were destroyed by extremists the Muslim world was dead quiet. When Christians are beheaded the Muslim world is quiet. But they are ready to cry havoc when they are insulted or blasphemed.
Try bringing in a Bible to Saudi Arabia and it will be confiscated at the airport and thrown in the garbage. Try wearing a cross in and it will be removed. Women must be covered and accompanied. This is all acceptable to the world and we shrug it off as "when in Rome do as Romans...." . But when France enacted a ban on Burkas, the whole muslim world was crying about freedom of religion. In Islam the freedom to worship only applies to Muslims. The rest of us can go to hell and they are willing and are arranging express transport for all.....

Maybe you should pick up a Qur'an before speaking. Education will get you everywhere in life & stupidity will get you no where. Christian's, Jew's & Sabian's are ALL respected by Muslim's. All 3 are all religions created by the same God that Muslim's believe in.

Al-Baqarah Chapter 2 verse 62 "whether they are the ones who believe (in the Arabian Prophet) or whether they are Jew's, Christian's or Sabian's-All who believe in God and the last day, and do rightious deeds- their reward is surely secure with their Lord; they need have no fear, nor shall they grieve"

Can you show me any where in the Qur'an where it says Muslim's do not respect these 3 religions or that they do not care about these religions? No you can not. You can not even show any proof that ALL Muslim's are told to kill these different religions. Like I said before, education will get you everywhere in life.

      Two simple questions:
      In Islam-
If the people of a nation do not submit to Islamic rule, what is to happen?
If you do not think the Qur'an directs war until all is ruled by Islam please indicate why Quran 9:29 should not apply.

Also, you elsewhere seemed to say that marrying a 6 year old and having se.x with her at 9 was wrong. The Qur'an says Mohammed was the man who was of great moral character (64:3) & that he was an excellent pattern for anyone. Are you suggesting his ra.ping a 9 year old was not a great example for anyone to follow?

      September 18, 2012 at 12:22 pm |
    • Kasandra

@Irrational Exuberance The At-Tawbah chapter 9 verse 29 states that you should fight against all who do not believe in God and the last day. Do not all religions of then satanic ones believe in God?? Do they not all believe in the last day??? Last time I checked they all teach to believe in God and they all talk about the last day whether they call it the day of judgement, the last hour, the last day, or the revelation. So now where in there does it tell Muslim's to hurt other's who believe in another religion just because they call themselves Christians, Jews, Catholics or any of the others.

      September 18, 2012 at 12:33 pm |
    • Irrational Exuberance

You avoid the answer. What does the Qur'an indicate to be done to those who do not submit to Islamic rule. You earlier imply it never directs violence against them, in fact you stated it cannot be shown in the Qur'an. 9:29 directly refutes that.

Secondly you seem to be saying Islam is not better than other religions, that they all have similar directions. Withou agreeing to the second half of that sentiment I agree with the first. It isn't any better. And in many ways it is worse, at least as practiced.

You seek to avoid the question by saying it does not specify to kill them "just because" they are another religion. That was not the accusation; it was that your religion is a vile, nasty, childish, brutal religion which venerates a child rap.ist.

To that you have no defense because it is simply true.

    • Kasandra

@irrational Exuberance No where on here have I stated that I am a Muslim. Just because someone has knowledge and has educated themselves within a religion doesn't mean that they are that religion. So let me speak clearly on this subject since you obviously are one of those who doesn't get facts before posting online. Muslim's believe that Christianity, Judism, and Sabian's are all God created religions. They are the original religions right along side Islam. Muslim's believe in all of the messengers as well as prophets of these religions. A true Muslim who believes in the Qur'an as it is written will see these other religions as part of Islam. Muslim's believe we are all born Muslim & then we go astray as we are allowed to do because it is part of being human. Muslim's are taught that God brings those back into Islam whom He chooses to bring back. And for those whom He does not bring back into Islam He Himself will deal with them on the day of judgement. He does not tell Muslim's to punish them here on this earth. He clearly says that non believers will answer to Him on the last day. Islam teaches that there is no compulsion in religion. Therefore those that are drawn into Islam & the belief in just one God are welcome and those that are not will be dealt with by Allah Himself. Muslim's are not taught to be judge and jury. That is the job of God. Timothy McVeigh killed lots of innocent lives here at home. Was he labeled a terrorist? Were all Americans labeled as terrorists because of what he did? Charles Manson wasn't labeled a terrorist was he? Look how many American's he killed in the name of his own created religion. Ya so why are all Muslim's labeled terrorists just because a few bad seeds took it into their hands to act stupid and then try to blame it on a religion?

Quick Kas, dodge, twist dive, but don't confront reality.
I call it your religion as you are the one defending it.

Does 9:29 direct fighting to continue until all (which would include Jews and Christians)
      a) accept Islamic law,
      b) convert to Islam, or
      b) accept a role beneath Muslims

Yes or no, a very simple question, but one that puts the truth to your lie about relations between Islam and other religions.

What else upsets Muslims? FARTING !!

    To wit:

"Farting is problematic in Islam. During prayer, a worshipper must not fart. Sahih Bukhari (1.4.137) writes that Allah will not accept a Muslim's prayer if he/she passes wind during the ritual.

The exception occurs if the worshipper farts silently, or the fart does not smell. In such a case, he/she may continue with the prayer (ibid, 1.4.139).Sunaan Nasai (1.162) writes that if you fart during a prayer you must redo ablution. Sahih Bukhari (9.86.86) says that for a "farter" Allah will not accept his/her prayer until he/she performs another ablution."

Muslims are committing Kufr (Blasphemy) because if insulting Mohamad is blasphemy, then Mohamad was God as blasphemy is by definition insulting God . To this end then, God was a human being named Mohamad bin Abdullah who lived in Arabia between the 5th and 6th century and who died and was buried in Medina al Munawarah in Saudia! So they are worshipping a dead human god!

I really think you do have Islam confused with Christianity & the nation of islam. Muslim's do NOT believe that Muhammad is God. Muhammad is a man who was conceived by a man & a woman on earth. Jesus is a man whom was conceived by a woman when God said she would be pregnant and then she was. Mr. Muhammad that the nation of islam prays to was just a man pretending to be a prophet but was no where near that when he changed his name in the 1960ish time frame. Please pick up a book and get educated on the difference between a man who is believed to be a prophet and God himself. Huge differences there like for real.

Why u Christians made Prophet Jesus (Peace be upon Him) son of God... I understand ... It was just to make yourselves equate with God... Jesus( PBH) never claimed to be son of God or God... In the contrary he said he was just a human chosen by God as a Messenger of true faith... just like Muhammad (PBH). Your priests infringed in the Evengalical book to suit themselves making alterations in the word of God... This is why u Christian are now astray...have lost the vision to differentiate between profane and sacred...Islam stayed on its course ...the reason it is now the fastest growing religion in the world...Your profanity hurled against Islam make it more popular ...

i think the point was, that the film made had nothing to do with the United States or the innocent ambassador and his collegues killed. So nothing has changed in terms of muslims defending violence on innocents in the name of their Prophet. So yes, we dont understand a Prophet who needs protecting and a religion whose followers are insecure enough to attack innocents and kill

      September 18, 2012 at 10:10 am |
    • Irrational Exuberance

Sacred has hardly been expunged from any dictionary, personal or otherwise.
It seems you are using the word in the sense of:
      Enti-tled to veneration

A 53 year old having se.x with a 9 year old is disqualified. A religion which holds fast that such people must be treated as sacred is likewise disqualified. They have earned scorn, not veneration.

Have a nice day, please don't burn down any buildings or kill anyone because your own writings make it known that moo-ham-head was a ped.ophile.

      No. Simply no.

That is exactly where you are wrong. I am agnostic, I don't know what is out there and I do not follow books or scripture or verses or holy-peoples, but I still hold sacred many things. Above all else life, in all forms, is sacred. No film, no hurt feelings, should ever change that. Look back at yourself when you justify murder because of hurt feelings.

Furthermore, in Corinthians a letter from Paul says to not judge those who are not in your faith. Likewise the right thing to do when someone is cruel and hateful to you you only show love and kindness back. Obviously, when there are people who do not hold life sacred and will take innocent lives. Well by then you'be become the devil in whatever religion you choose to believe.

      September 18, 2012 at 10:16 am |
    • Dee Exor

Are you sure about that? What is sacred to us is family, friendship, love..etc, all the things that you try to blow away from us…literally speaking. But we have erased the word "blasphemy" from our dictionaries, you're right about that. We just presume that that belongs to the middle ages. You might love allah, but the majority of folks on this planet don't give a damn about that. You better learn to live with it.

      September 18, 2012 at 10:20 am |

I personally don't care about the Muslim people or their faith,I have absolutely NO respect for this, so called religion!!!. ANY religion which condones murder of people from ANY OTHER religion, should be wiped off the map,as Ahmadinajad would like to do with the Jews.
Would ordianry Christian people go on the rampage, killing Muslims if it had been the other way round? Hell no. There is absloutely no tolerance with these people and the sooner we decide to have ZERO tolerance with them and marginalize them, the better!!!

      September 18, 2012 at 10:21 am |
    • sumday

sacred- well prove it then- that's all I or anyone else is asking. You are upset because your feeling were hurt that is all- boohoo. You claim this or that is sacred yet can offer no prove of it other than your feelings. I could say this pencil is sacred bc if anything happens to it my feelings get hurt but that does not make that pencil sacred. Your thoughts about something does not make it sacred. Nor claiming you were offended reason to act like this. I don't believe in your lying, murdering, raping, prophet. He heard voices in his head- we call those people crazy today- and then rewrote the Jewish and Christian bible to his own liking and did all of this based on his own word- bc he said so. I’m a bit offended a human could be so gullible and then shocked a human could dare call these lies sacred. Bottom line is a human should not be offended over something that has no proof. You justify all your emotions & actions of how you feel about something you can not prove and have no evidence of. Has G-d ever talked to you personally? Did you ever talk to Muhammad or know him personally that you should believe him? What is the difference bt Muhammad calling him G-ds prophet and the crazy guy on the corner saying the same thing? Before calling something sacred there should be some evidence of it being sacred and there is none. The Quran is a book of pages with writing on it- no different than a fairy tale book; however I won’t let my kid throw a tantrum bc I insulted his favorite comic book hero.

Right. We abandoned that " sacred" stuff..because you know what. We evolved. We allowed different opinions. Different point of views. Individualism. It's called humanity.
Because believing certain values and maximes (or ancient scribblings from desert tribes like the Bible or the Koran) to be sacred leads to fanatism, terrorism and hate against everybody who don't share the same illusions.
Let's be honest: The current state of Islam is pathetic. Most islamic countries are where western societies were 800 years ago.

      September 18, 2012 at 11:04 am |

Islam never teaches that innocence is to be harmed. In the time of the Prophet Muhammad during a Jihad Muslim's were told to only fight those that aimed to hurt them. If a person was non combative they were to be spared and taken in by the Muslim's. Even the prisoners were unbound and slept, ate, and bathed with the Muslim's. As far as the child molester comments go, well I would like to see one person on these blogs talk about when it was acceptable in this country for Christian men in their 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's to marry girls who were 9, 10, 11, and 12. Different times are just that. People had there reasons in other countries as well as in this country itself for doing what needed to be done. And you know it was 1400 years ago that, that was practiced in Arabia. It was only what like 100 years ago that it was practiced in this country. People in glass houses should NEVER throw stones.

      Oh Kasandra.

You think those of us who condemn them for venerating a ped.ophile would not share that towards others who do the same?

Please name a similarly venerated westerner who married a 6 year old, ra.ped her at 9, and today is defended with arson, violence and murder when such facts are repeated.

Let me know when you find such an example, until then I think you are leaking a pungent solid from your mouth that normally exits by a different orifice.

    • Kasandra

@Irrational Exuberance Ok so I have replied to this twice now but my comments keep getting deleted. So let's try this one more time, cause obviously someone does not like me advertising that even today a young girl can get married in the United States as long as her parents sign the right papers. It was just a few years back that a 9 year old girl got pregnant and her parents allowed the father of the baby to marry her. But hey let's pret\end that it isn't still practiced here in the United States. Talk about a nation that is blind. Let's condemn others for what was practiced in their country 1400 years ago when we can sit here in our own country and still practice it today. Ya I can see where an American can see themselves having a right to judge another country for something that was done way back then. Hmmm can anyone prove that Jesus never had a wife under 18?? How about Noah?? How old was his wife when they got married????

      September 18, 2012 at 12:42 pm |
    • Pete

Noah was not real, and therfore he never got married to anyone becuase he never existed in the first place. Also, the flood never happened. Finally, Christians are just as dumb as Muslims.

    • Irrational Exuberance

Kasandra, perhaps you were confused, so I will repeat the requirement if your accusations are to hold water.

It is a two part requirement so I will even label them for you:
      1) Please name a similarly venerated westerner who married a 6 year old, ra.ped her at 9, and
      2) today is defended with arson, violence and murder when such facts are repeated.

You must meet both parts to get credit.
The remained of your drivel is based on logical fallacies of proving a negative and such tripe. Step up your game or go away.

So far your score is 0.

Prayer does not; you are such a LIAR. You have NO proof it changes anything! A great example of prayer proven not to work is the Christians in jail because prayer didn't work and their children died. For example: Susan Grady, who relied on prayer to heal her son. Nine-year-old Aaron Grady died and Susan Grady was arrested.

An article in the Journal of Pediatrics examined the deaths of 172 children from families who relied upon faith healing from 1975 to 1995. They concluded that four out of five ill children, who died under the care of faith healers or being left to prayer only, would most likely have survived if they had received medical care.

The statistical studies from the nineteenth century and the three CCU studies on prayer are quite consistent with the fact that humanity is wasting a huge amount of time on a procedure that simply doesn’t work. Nonetheless, faith in prayer is so pervasive and deeply rooted, you can be sure believers will continue to devise future studies in a desperate effort to confirm their beliefs!

Muslims love their saviour BARACK HUSSIAN OBAMA

    September 18, 2012 at 9:56 am |
  14. Zack

It is quite astonishing that people seem to forget the big elephant in the room. The US and Western governments murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan in addition to supporting Israel which also murdered thousands of Palestinian and Lebanese innocents. This barbaric assault against innocent Muslims deosn't make Muslims furious?

They hate us for our freedom, yeah right..

    September 18, 2012 at 9:55 am |
    • Why

Yes, but how many muslims have been murdered by fellow muslims? The vast majority. Remember the Iran-Irak war? Why is there no "rage" about Syria and the complete unwillingness of the "arab world" to do anything about it?

      September 18, 2012 at 10:08 am |
    • sumday

OK Zack show me hundereds of thousands murdered. As for Israel- hey they beat you guys on their own with out USA helps when they first became a nation and did it agian later in 6 days. Seriously though lets look at how Islam spread through the world and how Arab countries became Islamic to begin with- it wasn't so peaceful watching your faimly members heads getting hacked off and them telling you convert or you will watch the same thing happen to your childern. You say USA and Israel have done all this killing- lets look at the Ottoman empire and how many they killed and how many people Islam continues to kill.

      September 18, 2012 at 10:10 am |

      They didn't kill enough then!!!

      September 18, 2012 at 10:23 am |
    • Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son

This shows a clear lack of knowledge for what the US military could do if it was actually ‘assaulting’ Muslims. That and your depiction of history starting with the Iraq and Afghan wars…because you know… they just happened.

American's kill American's every day. Muslim's kill Muslim's every day. Russian's kill Russian's every day. Chinese kill Chinese every day. The point here is not who kills who. Seriously everyone needs to stop killing period. But we do not live in a perfect world do we???? No we do not. All we can do is teach our children that killing is not right and hope for the best. there will always be people out there with their own beliefs that are going to kill in the name of any religion just to be killing because they are just born and raised stupid. Blame it on the parents that raised them to think that way and not the religion that teaches them the opposite of killing.

@ why. Well maybe you should research a little to see that the Muslim world is very outraged by what's going on in Syria. Muslim's all over the world have been holding fundraisers to help the innocent people being hurt over there. Muslim's even in the USA have been begging the Arab world to put an end to what is going on in Syria.

You have some thoughtful points kasandra, who gave them to you?
Because you followed up with this drivel:
"All we can do is teach our children that killing is not right and hope for the best."
Did you use an odd number of stones when you were done spilling that out?

We can do far more than just that. We can look into why people kill. We can educate on the foolishness of some of those justification. Like the veneratioon of a child rap.ist.
Perhaps by pointing out just what the founder of such a violent and bloodthirsty religion did fewer will take up the nonsense known as Islam, thus decreasing the number of people who would kill in the name of it.

So thank you for your endorsement of such work that is vital to combating violence.

      September 18, 2012 at 12:38 pm |
    • Kasandra

@Irrational Exuberance Ok you just backed what I said. Thank you. Since I did say we can just teach our kids. Ummm I think that would mean educating them in what is wrong. Sorry I didn't spell that out in a way that was simple enough for you to understand that. Maybe instead of googling a few verses from the Qur'an you can actually go to a local Mosque and I am sure they will give you one for free that you can actually sit down and read. your more focused on who was sleeping with who then on what really matters which is the fact that innocent people are dying all because 1 stupid man made a movie just because he was bored and uneducated, and very full of hate. Just because you don't understand a religion does not mean you have to fear it or attack it. It just means you have to educate yourself on it so that you can understand it.

@kas: humans evolved from a violent predatory ape; it would seem to reason that humans are instinctively violent by nature.

i'm not excusing that behavior by any means; asking humans not to fight is like asking a coyote not to hunt. it's in us, we have to accept our nature to over come our nature.
i know i'm a violent creature by nature, but you couldn't tell it by my everyday personality; i'm rather playful in truth.

Ignorance begets fear. Fear begets violence. Violence begets ignorance...

Only one way out of the human cycle of violence, become educated.

Education begets understanding. Understanding begets peace. Peace begets love. Love begets curiosity. Curiosity begets education...

Start a new cycle of life without violence and you can change the world, but it must start at home, and the heart is where the home is.

      Oh Kas, how sad.
"innocent people are dying all because 1 stupid man made a movie just because he was bored and uneducated, and very full of hate."

Let me walk you through it.

      Is killing innocent people wrong?

Who did the actual killing, who committed the action *directly* responsible for the death?
      The Muslim protesters

Were those killers capable of telling right from wrong?
      Yes, allegedly

Please list which of those you disagree with and why.

As to the rest of it, if they were not presenting him to be venerated then his history would not matter. But they do, so it does.

  15. Happy Reader

Muslims writing in English on Twitter are not exactly mainstream. It is truly a pity that some Muslims in the west feel victimized and discriminated against. But it must be pointed out again and again that this pales in comparison with the victimization and persecution of non-Muslims in Muslim dominated societies. Islamophobia may be a real problem, but it pales in comparison with the Christo-phobia and Judeo-phobia rampant in places like Iran, Pakistan, Sudan, etc.

    September 18, 2012 at 9:49 am |
    • Huebert

What is your argument? Is it that Muslims in the west should not mind being subjected to prejudice, because in some other countries Christians are treated worse? Please tell me how that makes any kind of sense.

      September 18, 2012 at 9:59 am |
    • Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son

The rather obvious point Huebert is…. They are in no position to cry victim when their own religion is far worse..

      September 18, 2012 at 10:43 am |
    • Huebert

      @Tom tom

I disagree. It is perfectly legitimate to cry victim if they are in fact being victimized. Muslims in America are not responsible for how the religion treats nonbelievers over seas. Therefor any prejudice or discrimination directed at them is wrong.

Mohammad and Islam are NOT ONLY a religion, but together are the symbol of
the Arab nationalism. If somebody offends Mohammad and Islam, this somebody
is offending the mother, the brother, the sister, the father and the fatherland of
a Muslim, particulary a Muslim Arab. Then again this recent anti-Islam movie is
the last drop which a glass can not contain. It's 60 years that USA defends Israel
and Zionists, scoffing at the whole Arab world. Looks that the Arabs can not take it
any more. It's funny to think that one of the most important strategic elements of
the US defense, oil is provided by the Muslim Arabs.

Last guys that had that brilliamt idea where all lilled by Muslim Fundametalists.

If the the Middle Eastern peoples had a drop of common sense they would be a super power that could wipe the mat with the US.

The wealth they have is inconcievable, and the world is TOTALLY dependent on oil.

If the Shia and Sunni stoped the Jihad nonesense against each other they could, as a unified force, rise to global dominance within a few years

      September 18, 2012 at 9:46 am |

William, therein of course is another good reason to get away from our dependence on oil, from foreign sources especially. Well, at least some efforts are being made in that direction.

Um, you do realize the whole concept of Arab Nationalism was started by Christian Arabs? What drives Arab Nationalism is the idea that we are Arab. You do know 20% of Arabs are Christian, and that equating Arab with Muslim is just wrong?

The article tries to add a funny twist to something that is tragic and here to stay, as it has always been. Hirsi Ali is right when she argues that fundamentalism doesn't run along the fringes of the Muslim faith, but it is its very backbone. Islam has remained a religion fit for the Dark Ages and changed very little. Those Muslims who pretend to be different from the angry bearded individuals destroying cities and ending lives, behave in fact very differently when they're among their own kind, and have an innate hatred for everything the West stands for. Their archaic and backward way of thinking, and pretext to destroy lives must never be tolerated, and even if their cries towards Western governments to ban all insults(or even portrayals for that matter) on Muhammad came true, I'd rather end up in jail for something I so strongly believe in. This is a clash of civilizations and no matter how we look at it, it is quite clear that one belongs to the 21st century and the other got stuck somewhere about a millenia ago.

    September 18, 2012 at 9:38 am |
    • Why

True. But it is not only a clash of civilizations; in what is left of our own civilization the political left misuses the clash for its own grasp for power.

@ Dee Exsor "Those Muslims who pretend to be different from the angry bearded individuals destroying cities and ending lives, behave in fact very differently when they're among their own kind, and have an innate hatred for everything the West stands for."

How many Muslim's do you actually know?? And how do you pretend to know what it is that All Muslim's talk about when they are with their own?? And if so many Muslim's hated the west why do they move here from their own countries? Like seriously would you move to a country that you hate that badly?? Ya I didn't think so. Do proclaim to know what is in the hearts or minds of others until you have lived a day in their shoes. Just another example of how knowledge will get you everywhere and stupidity is obviously getting you no where
