Huckabee: Lack of religion in classroom leads to violence in schools

(CNN) - Responding to the deadly mass shooting Friday in Newtown, Connecticut, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said new laws regulating guns won't deter such shootings, linking a lack of religious discussion in the classroom to increased violence in schools.

"We ask why there's violence in our school but we've systematically removed God from our schools," Huckabee said on Fox News. "Should we be so surprised that schools have become such a place of carnage? Because we've made it a place where we don't want to talk about eternity, life, what responsibility means, accountability."

"That we're not just gonna have to be accountable to the police if they catch us but one day we stand before a holy God in judgment. If we don't believe that, then we don't fear that," he said.

"People are going to want to pass new laws," Huckabee continued. "This is a heart issue ... laws don't change this kind of thing."

We all live amid two chasms of cosmological orders. We have the inner-cosmos and the outer-cosmos. The inner-cosmos is atomically made and is the universal construct of the outer-cosmos. One could not have an outer cosmos without there being an inner cosmos. Both are synonymously of the same natures. It stands to reason the inner-cosmos was made first and the outer-cosmos came into being only after the passive finalization of the inner-cosmos was made near complete. The inner-cosmos is transcendent and fixed while the outer-cosmos is ascendant and malleable in their dualities natures.

The third cosmos is of life itself made from the inner-cosmos living upon the terrestrial planetary faces of the celestial outer-cosmos. This third cosmos is the celled cosmos or the cellular cosmologic orders duly ordained of and by and even for all life forms to be made anywhere cellular life can gain a foothold to evolve and gain in the abundant natures toward the evolution of its structures ever evolving in base pairings. Without the two main Cosmos coming into existence; living cellular cosmologies could not ever exist.

The trinity or threefold nature of chasm cosmologies is being one of the greatest and grandest gestures ever to have been formulated! To say God had nothing to do with such a feat of cosmologic inter-dependencies seems an infallible congruency inconsistent for one to say or think otherwise. To say the nature of God is to keep inflating the physical elements of the outer cosmos while deflating the essence needs for the inner-cosmos leaves one to wonder about the third cosmological construct’s real nature for having been created. Why then is there cellular cosmos of living cosmologies and when did such life become established?

      Tom Tom,

FYI, I have said much about what I have written here to my Psychiatrist and she thinks very highly about such thoughts as I have above written! People who are unable to fathom my words shall ever be held in darkness never the more to be known by God nor the godly of our being. Ineptness of inabilities are many commoners peasantries commonwealths. Fear not in death for in dying one becomes once again part of the grand seas of absolute nothingness to never again be a part of the material continuum but, should God grant one of disbelief another chance at living, they will start at the beginning road of life deeply seeded upon the insides of life itself upon a realm of such insignificant smallness it will take one trillions of years to reach the celestial boundaries of our now commonwealth ideals.

People who don't understand your words are not at fault, LL.

You make no sense. Sorry, but no matter what your therapist says, or how beneficial this exercise may be to your mental health, it is meaningless to anyone else.

That's fine as long as you don't care whether you get a meaningful response here from anyone sane. Otherwise, you're out of luck.

  4. Dear atheist, watch the prayer vigil, now!
    December 16, 2012 at 7:03 pm |
    • Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son

I have tremendous sympathy for the parents and families who lost loved ones. If the prayer vigil gives them comfort, I have no issue with one being held. If it comforts those who attend, I'm happy for them. It doesn't bother me that prayers are said or that people come together to give support to those who grieve.

I don't believe it will do anything for me, so I won't bother watching.

What I abhor is those disgusting zealots who insist that this tragedy occurred because we don't allow religion to interfere with government, law, or public schools, ignoring the fact that schools are NOT there to inculcate children on matters of faith but on matters of fact and reality. If anyone has failed, it's you people. I wonder how many believers were neighbors of this killer and his mother and never reached out to them, talked to them, invited them to dinner, or paid attention to them at all.

      December 16, 2012 at 7:09 pm |
    • What??

I agreed with alot of what you said Tom Tom...until this line..

. I wonder how many believers were neighbors of this killer and his mother and never reached out to them, talked to them, invited them to dinner, or paid attention to them at all.

Who invites their neighbors over. Being a neighbor is no requirement to have people into your private home, and based on what happened it is a good thing the neighbors didn't have those people in their house. My neighbors certainly do not come into my home and vice versa.

I invite my neighbors to wine and cheese hours, for snacks on the deck, and for dinner. I don't know where you live, dearie, but I live in a neighborhood where people do that. And it's not in Dixie or out in the sticks, either.

Well, that's heartening, Jen. When I first heard this story on Friday, I was so shocked by it. I cannot imagine the pain these families, those of the victims and of the man who committed the horrific crime, are suffering.

This has NOTHING to do with religion, and Huckabee is a cheap, shallow ass for using it for his own gain. I'm more disgusted by him and his swill than I am by the idiots here who blabber their crap.

      3. The right-wing propaganda machine has been in overdrive broadcasting this sound byte

      4. The NRA is trying to distract people from the guns.

So lionylamb, you old drunk! How often did you drive drunk? Was it a lot? I mean, what is it in your years of being a drunk and a drunk driver that give you the right to tell other people what morality is? You have very little sober time, and if you are in the AA cult, your chances of making it even another few years are less than 50%. I mean, we don't want you oout there drunk driving again, but don't you see the supremely foolish arrogance of spending so many years being a danger to society and a pain and heartache to everyone who knows you, then thinking you now suddenly are more moral than everyone else?

    December 16, 2012 at 6:38 pm |

My many years of drunkenness came to an end not by my own reckoning. To have someone hold against me my past is a cruelty no abstainer should be held to! God, yes God took away my emotional desires to continue on drinking! What rights do you have to blame my ongoing ways and future yearnings due my past dealings? AA, I went for a little while but left for I found their ways to not be for me. Church? I am a closeted Christian because I believe our bodies to be the true churches of God, not any man made church!

  14. Get Real

This imaginary god of which you speak as murdered far more innocent children than this sick man who killed these school children.

The EVIL god Jehovah murdered thousands- if not millions- of innocent children during the Flood. He also ruthlessly murdered the first born babies in Egypt. The book of myths and lies, called the bible, is full of many other examples.

Since Christians seem to love to worship baby killers maybe they will add this school shooter to the list of Saints and worship him too!

Fortunately god is imaginary and the bible a fairy tale.

@Topher, As someone who grew up in a christian home and was raised in a baptist church/school system, which played other school/churches in sports, etc., I would like to point out that you are calling all of those people, including my family members, non-christians. Considering I went to school in 2 different states and 3 different schools in total, you're talking about 10s of thousands of people. When you include Bob Jones University, Pensacola Christian College, Liberty University, and the many other christian insti.tutions including the 700 club, you're basically saying that millions of people in America claiming to be christians, are not christians.

    Did I get that right?

Then let's look at those claims. Read Matther 24 3-34. Jesus is asked about the end times, and Jesus gives great detailed descriptions and ends it with" Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."

That generation passed away 1900 years ago. None of it happened.

      December 16, 2012 at 7:18 pm |
    • Topher

Sorry, guys. I didn't run away. I was at church.

"@Topher, If you can be so quick to judge millions of christians, who are certain they are christians as not being christians,"

... not judging anyone, just going by what the Bible says. Jesus said there will be many on Judgment Day who will wonder why they are being sent to Hell and proclaim their good works for Christ, but He will say 'depart from me you who practice lawlessness. I never knew you.' The Bible also says there is one path to God and few who find it.

"what makes you so confident that YOU are a christian? Do you have some kind of magic amulet that lights up confirming your belief?"

Nope. Just as the Bible says, when you repent and trust in the Savior, you are born again. That means you take on a new heart and new desires for God. This is the evidence of your salvation. I am not the same person I was once upon a time.

"Also, do you distance yourself from the old testament god who commanded acts of atrocity far worse than what this shooter did?"

No. The OT God and the NT God are the same. There are just different covenants. Those whom God smushed in the OT deserved what they got.

  16. What Mike Huckabee is really up to

Well, Mike Huckabee is now screaming about how a lack of god in school caused this. Never mind that the shooter attended a religious school for years. He knows darn well that there is no way the Constitution will allow what he is saying.

So what is he up to?

He is doing a pre-emptive strike for the NRA. Obama hinted at doing something, and this is the counter attack. Using the classic righty-whitey-tighty tactic of making loud crazy counter-accusations, he has started screaming about God in school. It's a diversionary tactic plain and simple. He is drowning out an approach he doesn't like. And Obama traditionally handles this sort of thing quite weakly.

Others of the right-wing propaganda circuit like Limbaugh and Fox are going to flood their listeners with the same message over the next few weeks. They are taking attention off of gun control and putting it somewhere ridiculous. The smart amongst the listeners will recognize it, but the vast majority will buy it at face value. Which is fine, because it keeps those dollars pouring in.

And after a month or so of this god-in-school/gun-control shout-a-thon, everyone will be sick of it and both attempts die. Which ironically would have happened anyway. Much ado about nothing. No gun control laws were going to come of this, and the Constitution isn't going to be amended for the sake of the cross-suckers. It's all just a manipulative horse-and-pony show, one they don't even need to do.

Huckabee isn't fightting for god; he's fighting for the NRA. It's a diversion.

Can't deal with the fact that reality is leaving them far behind in terms of relevance and they're fighting to come back into the school system. Just die off your religious s-c-u-m.

Go ahead" Do it! Teach your children that religious folks are s c u m! That may just give your kids a reason to pick upon their schooled friends enemies giving rise to another possible shooter as happened this past Friday! Socialism be it adult or younger is measured by the socialism of one's youth! Go ahead then and tell your children your God awful ways declaring religious folks to be s c u m!

We'll just show them your posts, LL, and tell them "this is your brain on religion. Any questions?"

There is only one issue here. 20 children were killed because a lunatic had an assault rifle. No more excuses. Whatever it takes to get these guns out of people's hands is mandatory. F-ck the NRA. And f-ck Mike Huckabee for not saying so. Mike Huckabee is the Kim Kardashian of religion. His Fox Fake News contract prevents this piece of filth from coming out against assault weapons. The devil has a special place in hell for Mike Huckabee. Human garbage.

    What is God's Truth?

What difference does God in the Schools make? I went through the Lutheran School system for 12 years and was still bullied as were others. In the case of the CT tragedy the young man was mentally ill. All the indoctrination in modern Christian ethics wasn't going to prevent him from from carrying out the massacre.

The shooter was angry. Yes, but, if he knew God's truth and believed in him, no matter what his pain was, he would have trusted the Lord to bring him through his trauma. We are to share and focus on God's truth daily (minute by minute, hour b hour) to ensure his truth is practiced by all.

God Bless our country as we go through the post traumatic stress of this horrible deed.

BTW What is god's truth to you ?

    • What Mike Huckabee is really up to

He did know "god's truth." He went to Catholic school for at least a couple years. The guy prayed in school, and he received religious indoctrination in school.

Did not help a bit. This "god in school" stuff is the lie told a hundred time" and "the Big Lie" all rolled into one.

JWT, that's an easy question. Thank you for asking. God's truth to everyone is to believe in him, obey his commandments, and be ambassadors of his truth daily to all.

      God Bless everyone.

What Mike. being indoctrinated in God's truth is the first step. We have to remember to take more steps with his truth ... daily, every waking hour that we are on this earth. Remember, we live in Satan's kingdom that bombards us with his lies every waking moment we breath. Why? Because Satan wants to take as many of God's children with him to eternal damnation. Unfortunately for the shooter, his personal pain rejected God's truth while he utilized his free will on innocents. That's all it takes, taking your eyes, mind, belief off of God's truth. Pray that everyone in the world focuses on Jesus' righteous truth.

      God Bless you.

Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

He created evil, he created Satan.
He can undo all of it.
      He doesn't.
Please do not say that God gave us free will; he has that same free will, and chooses not to stop the atrocities he chose to create in the first place.
He would rather add to his OT body count.
Sounds like a brat to me.

Akira, God did create all but he gave man free will. He wishes all of us to get to know him and in knowing him we get to love him.. By getting to know him means to read the letter he wrote us, the Bible. Once you start reading the Bible, you ask him to guide your understanding of what he wrote to us. When we understand what he wrote to us, we automatically want to love him and follow what is written.to love and follow his truth. That's all he wants from us, to love him and by loving him with our free will, we learn and follow his righteous truth. When you take your eyes off of Jesus' truth is when Satan's lies are allowed to creep in. That is what happened to the shooter, he took his eyes off of God's truth. It only takes a minute of not focusing on God that Satan's lies are allowed to flourish.

As to the OT count. The truth written in the Bible is examples of what mankind can and will do. The examples explain believers and nonbelievers throughout history ... righteous versus unrighteous decisions made by humans.

      God Bless you.

+ you still have not explained what gods truth is.. just believe in him thats it? he will allow your children to die, and folks to starve to death, but thats ok. Luckily i do not, and never ,will believe in such a horror show as your god. there are many many folks questioning their belief today, and i expect you will loose some of the deeper thinkers in your midst

EvolvedDNA, God didn't cause that massacre, the shooter did for taking his eyes off of his truth. God doesn't allow children to starve throughout the world, humans do. When was the last time you donated EvolvedDNA and if you did, do you know your money got to those in need? Righteous versus unrighteous humans.

Let's say I've donated a thousand dollars over the course of my life to various charities. How many pieces of bread has your deity made magically appear in front of a child that was in imminent danger of dying from starvation?

Damocles, a true Christian that walks with God will ensure your money gets to the targeted audience. However, there are many con artists in the world, pretending they are Christians, taking your money to benefit them. It's called wolves in sheep's clothing. That's why we have to know the parable of the figs. Is this person a good fig that produces righteous actions or a bad fig that produces no fruit, hence, unrighteous actions or in this case, lip service with no righteous actions.

      God Bless you.

+ You claim your god walks with those who believe.. yet may believers and non believers perish in the same ways . Your god is a very ineffective being, or is a figment of human imagination which is more likely. How can you really claim that this god of yours who "teaches love" allows innocent children to die the way they did and to plunge their families into unbearable pain, that will accompany them for life. Look up Aberfan.. another school in Wales that was buried in mud in the 60s . what specifically can you tell us that jesus told the human race that was not known before his arrival?
