Jesus Christ has been a significant figure in the shaping the history of mankind. I am glad that God chose to reveal himself to mankind in the form of Jesus Christ, so that all who believe in him might be saved and have life everlasting!

Why doesn't he reveal himself again, in some more convincing way, to make us all believers? What's the most plausible answer to that question?

      March 3, 2013 at 5:55 pm |
    • Bob

So Rachel(Chad), how is it again that your omnipotent being couldn't do his saving bit without the whole silly Jesus hoopla? And how was Jesus' death a "sacrifice", when an omnipotent being could just pop up a replacement son any time with less than a snap of his fingers? Pretty pathetic "god" that you've made for yourself there.

Ask the questions. Break the chains. Join the movement.
Be free of Christianity and other superstitions.

Why didn't Jesus write his own scripture? There isn't one piece of evidence that he ever existed. He may have existed but its more likely he's a myth.

Jesus in an excuse people give in the name of war and violence and greed.
Brother Dubya destroyed a nation thanks to his personal Crusade,
while Brother Obie continues to do everything in his power
to separate the middle class from its money.
And how many criminals blaspheme Jesus
by tattooing His face and/or the cross on their bodies?

I'm a bit confused, looking for input.
@saraswati views this argument as valid, @Really-O views it as invalid.

what do you think? Does this argument have a valid or invalid structure?
    For reference: http://philosophy.hku.hk/think/arg/valid2.php

    ==arg 1==
    1) (P) There is no evidence of any gods.
    2) (P) To believe in something one should have evidence
    3) (C)There is no reason to believe there are any [gods].

Their arguement is simple, that because something is supernatural, it doesn't ever happen. This ignores the most poweful, incomprehensible event over all time: the creation of the universe in just about an instant of time.

So by their reasoning, we don't actually exist either.

The solution has always been, yes, God exists... but they don't like that answer... because God is the answer.

    • Tom, Tom, the Other One

As I pointed out elsewhwere, (2) is defective. To get to (3) you need something like

      2) (P) Evidence is necessary to provide a reason for belief.

"should" is creating problems for you.

      March 3, 2013 at 2:30 pm |

      Where is "there?"

      March 3, 2013 at 6:49 pm |
    • Saraswati

It depends on how you read the everyday English. I read it.

      1) (P) Not exists evidence
      2) (P) If not exists evidence then not exists reason to believe
      3) (C) Not exists reason to believe

How many gods have been born from a virgin.. What's wrong if a deity that's born from a woman that isn't a virgin. Their people to. Here is the list of gods supposedly born from a virgin....personally I think there might be something wrong with a woman that claims she's a virgin. Creepy.

Jesus is the only way out of this planet. see isaiah 24 & habbacuk 3 and mathew 24 see what is coming God is the future. future for God is already history.

Why would god have his son tortured and executed if he is omnipotent why couldn't he just forgive. Not only that make his son a scape goat for a sin that someone else committed and why should I be forgiven . I didn't do anything. i mean it doesn't make sense.

In a recent scientific test proving existence of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Christian communion wafers were compared against a FSM communion meal, and the following result was noted:
"Both subjects had their vitals recorded before and after communion. Upon completion of the test, the Christian was found to be listless, with decreased heart rate, body temperature, and brain function. The Pastafarian recorded increased heart rate, body temperature, and brain function, commenting that he felt "full," which we interpreted to mean whole(2)

(2.) That is, the FSM test subject was showing signs of His [Noodly] presence."
