Pope embraces disabled boy on Easter

(CNN)–A mother who was with her husband and five children in St. Peter's Square for the holiday helped lift her young son with cerebral palsy, Dominic, into the arms of Pope Francis for a blessing after Easter Mass. Christiana Gondreau describes the touching moment to CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

"There was not a dry eye around us. It was really, really moving," she says. "Not in a million years, really, did I expect to end the Easter Sunday Mass with a kiss from the pope. It was very beautiful."

Ancient Earth Crust Stored in Deep Mantle

Apr. 24, 2013 — Scientists have long believed that lava erupted from certain oceanic volcanoes contains materials from the early Earth's crust. But decisive evidence for this phenomenon has proven elusive. New research from a team including Carnegie's Erik Hauri demonstrates that oceanic volcanic rocks contain samples of recycled crust dating back to the Archean era 2.5 billion years ago. Their work is published in Nature.

Einstein letter, set for auction, shows scientist challenging idea of God, being 'chosen'

    By Jessica Ravitz, CNN

Decades before atheist scientist and author Richard Dawkins called God a "delusion," one world-renowned physicist – Albert Einstein – was weighing in on faith matters with his own strong words.

“The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends,” Einstein wrote in German in a 1954 letter that will be auctioned on eBay later this month. "No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this.”

I'm not a Catholic and have often viewed the Catholic Church as being rather tribal and controlling in their thinking and behavior. I saw a ray of light during the election when the Nuns On The Bus were visiting US cities assisting and bringing attention the to the needs of the poor even though the previous Pope condemed their actions as not being obedient enough(?)

This new Pope seems to embrace the humility that has been so lacking not only in the Catholic faith but the other Christian faith based churches as well. Jesus took a lot of time taking care of the poor and instructing his followers to do the same. This begs the question why are there so many multi million dollar ministries?

Hopefully this will herald a new age of enlightenment for the Catholic church.

    O People...

The Pope is just a human and kissing a disabled boy does not make it something especial or should you feel something devine... please don't think that getting some tears by seeing this will make you good in the eyes of The Almighty... one should work hard especially use the intellectuals to live this earthly life and shoot for hereafter... few things should be considered of thinking:
    – should I ask The Almighty who is The Creator of the entire universe and who does not need any help from His creation to maintain it as when He wishes to create something He just says 'Be and it is...' OR the creation like son, daughter, association and so on who can't even make sure about himself or a dead person?
