Exodus apologizes to gay community, shuts down 'cure' ministry

(CNN) - After 37 years, Exodus International, an organization whose mission was to "help" gay Christians become straight, is shutting down. But not before issuing an apology.

"We're not negating the ways God used Exodus to positively affect thousands of people, but a new generation of Christians is looking for change - and they want to be heard," Tony Moore, an Exodus board member, said Wednesday.

The announcement comes less than a day after Exodus issued a wide-ranging apology to the gay community for "years of undue judgment by the organization and the Christian Church as a whole," a statement from the group says.

"Exodus is an institution in the conservative Christian world, but we've ceased to be a living, breathing organism," said Alan Chambers, the president of Exodus. "For quite some time, we've been imprisoned in a worldview that's neither honoring toward our fellow human beings, nor biblical."

Chambers, who has a wife and children and previously identified as gay, has acknowledged that he has "ongoing same-sex attractions."

This has got to be one of the most disturbing and upsetting Christian heresies in recent history. Imagine, apologizing for having helped (or tried to help) sinners see the Truth about their sins and turning them to God's grace for redemption...which is through faith and dependency on Jesus Christ. This new "leader" turns them back to their own ways and makes a mockery out of the cross, which was all done so we may believe in Him so we may enter God's kingdom. That's TRUE LOVE! What this man just did is true hate...though the world sees it the other way around. And to think that this organization's slogan is "Reaching the World in Grace and Truth". It's more like "reaching the world by disgrace and lies". All this is and should always be is a warning to all sinners alike, to avoid eternal condemnation. It is not a call to judge others, to blast them, to insult them, and to much less hate them. It is a call to repentance from our sins and to turn to Him for salvation of our soul...just as we were once warned.

    Dirve out fear...end the hate!

Ceilbacy can free the sinner from the abyss of suffering.

Reach out with the hand of fellowship and welcome the celibate sinner
    back from the abyss.

There is room for sinners to repent at the foot of the old rugged cross.

Dougie, your horrid Christian users guide AKA the bible is really not a good source of guidance for anything, given its evil content such as the following:

From both evil testaments, and note what I have to say about context and interpretation below:

      Numbers 31:17-18
17 Now kiII all the boys. And kiII every woman who has slept with a man,
18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

Deuteronomy 13:6 – “If your brother, your mother’s son or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul entice you secretly, saying, let us go and serve other gods … you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death”

Revelations 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

      Leviticus 25
44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.
45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.
46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.

Note that the bible is also very clear that you should sacrifice and burn an animal today because the smell makes sicko Christian sky fairy happy. No, you don't get to use the parts for food. You burn them, a complete waste of the poor animal.

Yes, the bible really says that, everyone. Yes, it's in Leviticus, look it up. Yes, Jesus purportedly said that the OT commands still apply. No exceptions. But even if you think the OT was god's mistaken first go around, you have to ask why a perfect, loving enti-ty would ever put such horrid instructions in there. If you think rationally at all, that is.

And then, if you disagree with my interpretation, ask yourself how it is that your "god" couldn't come up with a better way to communicate than a book that is so readily subject to so many interpretations and to being taken "out of context", and has so many mistakes in it. Pretty pathetic god that you've made for yourself.

So get out your sacrificial knife or your nasty sky creature will torture you eternally. Or just take a closer look at your foolish supersti-tions, understand that they are just silly, and toss them into the dustbin with all the rest of the gods that man has created.

Ask the questions. Break the chains. Join the movement.
Be free of Christianity and other superstitions.

Do you know why the US forces are there in the Middle east region?

Do you know why they are talking too much about the NEW Middle east?

Do you know why events are running very fast in the Middle east area?

Because the Christ will come back again in the Middle east area ( where he born) and where the final battle will take place.

So the antichrist is preparing the stage for that by sending his forces (US forces) to fight Muslims and the Christ (his killer)
    When he comes back.

So in the media all Muslims must be terrorists and must be killers to make it easy to convince peoples to fight them.

The media will show the antichrist as the hero who came to save the mankind.

The antichrist succeeded in making people forget about him.

But he is there planning for the final battle.

    Prayer changes things.

I'm sure that is true. What is interesting, is that prayer changes things and there isn't a god there. Much like a high school football coach changes things with an inspirational speech before the game. There are no guarantees in speeches or prayer, but it surely can change state of mind.

Now if you think prayer gets some god into action for you, you are just deluded. If you think prayer makes things happen without your personal action and behavior, you're deluded.

It is sad to see such immature people as 'as always'. Not believing in some sort of so called 'god' doesn't make one a god hater. They can't accept that others feel their beliefs are just a bunch of myths. BUT of course these same Christians believe the beliefs of all other regions are just a bunch of myths.

    • jazzguitarman

As always; I say 'god' because I don't have any definition of 'god'. The term is meaningless to me (thus I couldn't have any hate towards 'it' either), but I do understand how meaningful the term is to others.

Why can't you accept that others feel differently about this so called 'god'.

Actually CNN is a very respectable channel...they always want to remind us with 9-11 attacks so they designed their logo by that way to remind us with the attacks.

See now how they are very clever in that:

Read the logo upside down you will get MD..............means (M)onth and (D)ay.

Read it from left to right you will get.............. 9111....... means 9-11-01.

Read it from right to left you will get.............. WTC...... read the T upside down.
