'No Muslim parking' signs spark outrage

From CNN affiliate KPRC

Houston - New signs posted outside a mosque in Spring Branch, Texas, have sparked outrage from Muslims nationwide.

In black letters, the signs reads, "No Muslim parking in the Westview Shopping Center. Your car will be towed."

The posters lined the street near the El Farouq Mosque, where Muslims heading to worship services said they were were offended.

"I feel sorry for the person who wrote it," Ahmed Hassan told CNN affiliate KPRC. "This is what comes to mind because obviously he has a lot of hate."

"I'm very shocked because we do live in a society that's supposed to be very accepting, and this is what we all preach," said Yara Aboshady. "That we all have the freedom of religion."

The parking signs were mentioned Thursday in an newsletter from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslims civil rights group.

In recent years, Muslims have faced protests nationwide when trying to construct new mosques, including in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where mosque opponents have filed an appeal with the state supreme court to block construction.

The El Farouq Mosque sits across the street from the shopping center. Store employees did not want to go on camera for KPCR but did say they get angry when mosque members park in their lot, taking up spots meant for customers.

With the Muslim monthlong fast for the holy month of Ramadan ending and a crowd expected at the mosque, the signs anonymously appeared.

No shopping center employees would admit to posting the signs. One worker said the shopping center owner, Steve Kwon, posted the signs. He denied it.

"I did not put up the signs," Kwon said. After speaking with KPRC, Kwon removed the signs.

Aboshady wondered about the sign writer's true motive.

"It could be no parking for the sake of patrons that come in," Aboshady said. "Or it really could be a prejudice and just a mean thing to say."

She and others still find the signs insensitive and offensive.

"It's really offensive and it's hateful," Hassan said.

The shopping center owner says he will call a tow company to try to get all of the cars that shouldn't be parked there out. He also says he'll be checking the property to make there are no more of the offensive parking signs.

Egyptians are dead souls for worshipping other gods, they quote Isaiah 19:25 Blessed be Egypt my people. Not knowing Isaiah is a prophet & his father's name is Amos. *Amos 9:10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us. *Revelation 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. *Isaiah 20:4So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape? *Exodus 11:7 that ye may know how the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel. *Amos 9:8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord. The God of Jacob will destroy all the people who are against the most high God. Laugh now, but the earth will mourn. Those in the middle are transforming, by taking the mark of the beast, bringing death to their own families. The world has blaspheme the black messiah Christ himself and vengenance is for the Lord. (Psalm 59:13) Are are with the God of Abraham, the God of Issac, and God of Jacob? If not those who love the things of the world belong to Satan and his dead kingdom. (Mark 12:26-27)

I think this is just ignorance on the part of westview – change muslim to mosque and all is well. Let's not make a mountain out of a mole hill out this "issue." Life is too short and there are enough problems as it is in our world.

Muslim ISN'T a race, it's a religion. To dislike a muslim isn't racist at all. I wish people would educate themselves. I'm not a fan of Catholics, I ahve a hard time with a religion that OK's week long doing whatever you want, then confessing it to make it all better. Killing people in the name of your God is horrible, Muslims, and Christian religions have done it for a thousand years.

If they are parking on private property in the first place they have no RIGHTS what so ever to park there and the owner can put the signs up if they want to...if they know that the moslems are parking there and they go to the mosque then they are taking money away from the stores...so they can put the signs up rather the moslems like it or not and no...we are not all equal and we know that the moslems don't preach anything like this...see what they are ll doing in the middle east right now...that is not peace and love unless you are warped and believe what they say...they have a history for centuries for violence and that is all they know so don't believe even one moslem what they say...

It’s funny how CNN has lost interest in the murder of 22 year old Australian college student, Chris Lane.
Coincidentally, CNN’s loss of interest occurred just about the same time it was revealed that his accused murderers are Black, (by the way, Lane is white, I wonder if that had anything to do with it?)
Incidentally, racist texts from one of the accused murderers have recently come to light, making this a racial hate crime (by Blacks).
I wonder is Black Racist like Al Sharpton, and the NAACP will be pressing the Justice Department to investigate this murder?
Or will they stay silent like they did when three Black 15 years old severely beat a 13 year old white boy on a bus in Florida a couple of weeks ago?
    Wake Up America!

I read about that a few days ago and haven't heard anything since. Definitely racial.

Not every crime that involves people of different races is a racist crime.

From what I've read, this wasn't about race as much as it was about three bored teenage boys who thought it would be fun to kill someone. Yes the perpetrators were black and the victim was white. I haven't read anywhere that they killed him BECAUSE he was white.

Yes, it is racial violence, likely due to the immersion of these teenagers in a culture that celebrates "gangster" living and guns, where kids are desensitized to violence because they live in a world where it is an everyday occurrence.

But racist? I don't think so.

One of the perps had previously tweeted "90% of white ppl (people) are nasty. #HATE THEM." This indicates a level of racial prejudice amongst them. However, nobody is taking the racial angle. Compare this to the Zimmerman trial. There was no evidence that Zimmerman harbored any racial prejudice, yet the media went straight for the race motivation as a middle-class White/Hispanic man shot an unarmed black teenager.

Actually, they have proof the boys wanted to kill a white person because "90% of white ppl are nasty".

Can you see that there is a major problem in our society? Racism and stereotyping is so prevalent now. How can we as a society be comfortable living this way? We disregard the own words we speak. Many profess not to be a raciest but in their heart they know the truth. Why can’t we judge the person and not basis judgment on a person skin color or nationality? Our we that shallow? We nee to revaluate our own selves because no one is perfect. Every person has done something to someone a one time or another. Stop being a shallow society and start looking at the heart of the matter presented.

The Samaritan woman was puzzled when Jesus asked her for some water. She said, you are a Jew. Jews don't talk to people like me, a Muslim, I mean a Samaritan.

I'm just guessing here, but this sounds like a case of a shopping mall owner who doesn't want anyone using his parking lot who isn't actually shopping there. In college, I and many other students sometimes parked our cars in the lot of a restaurant nearby campus to avoid the nightmare of parking on campus itself. Eventually, the restaurant had to put up signage saying that this was prohibited and that our vehicles would be towed if we continued. It's a completely understandable practice. Granted, the mall owners could have chosen their words a little better and just said that the parking lot was for mall customers only, omitting the Muslim reference altogether, but most sensible people can figure out the meaning behind the sign without having to resort to outrage and political correctness. Perhaps those offended should have simply called the mall owner and asked for clarification, or to put up new signs, rather than contacting the media and creating unnecessary drama. Unless of course that was their real motivation all along.

Let's hear the truth, their little "Mosque" which is in a iron fenced old mechanics shop, when the "prayee's" show up and start parking on the roads shoulder, the median, the VA hospital, everywhere BUT a legal parking spot.

They flood the area with their cars, parked in dangerous and illegal places, and they simply don't care cause if you say anything "Your racist." yet they are the ones break 3-4 laws at a time per vehicle.

This country was founded and built by Christans (you know like the ones that are getting slaughtered in the middle east) and if the muslims don't like it here they should go back to their Christan free countries.

We also have this little thing in our country called "freedom of religion." Don't like it? Don't think these Muslims should be allowed to worship in that way? Well, then, why don't you move? We'd be glad to get rid of people like you.

And, for the love of everything, read some history on the founding fathers. They weren't as Christian as you think they were.
