Is this the first papal selfie?

(CNN) - In another precedent-shattering moment for Pope Francis, the bishop of Rome, the Vicar of Christ, successor of St. Peter and the head of 1.2 billion Catholics worldwide has taken what may be the first papal selfie.

The pontiff posed for the photo with young Italian pilgrims Wednesday at St. Peter's Basilica.

The image of Francis mugging for a cell phone photo with the Italian teens charged through social media when the papal newspaper L'Osservatore Romano released the photo Thursday.

The group of 500 young people was visiting the Vatican from the Catholic diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio in Italy and had a private audience with the pope.

According to Vatican Radio, the pope told the young crowd he wanted to meet with them "for selfish reasons ... because you have in your heart a promise of hope."

"You are bearers of hope. You, in fact, live in the present, but are looking at the future. You are the protagonists of the future, artisans of the future,” the pope told the pilgrims.

“Make the future with beauty, with goodness and truth," he said.  "Have courage. Go forward. Make noise.”

Before the selfie shot around the world, the teens presented the pope with the gift of a wooden-framed illustration of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns.

Pope Francis receives a gift from Italian teenagers.

Italian journalist Fabio M. Ragona got his hands on the selfie and posted it to his Twitter account.

Um, a "selfie" is when you take a picture of yourself BY yourself, thus the "self" in the selfie. So NO, this is not a selfie of the con man, this is just a sheeple taking a picture.

True. Your next post is about a selfie though, re that priest and his sub-robe action.

    55:1 – The Most Merciful
55:2 – Has taught (the mankind) the Quran
    55:3 – He created man
55:4 – He taught him eloquent speech
55:5 – The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation
55:6 – And the stars and trees prostrate
55:7 – And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance
55:8 – In order that you may not transgress (due) balance
55:9 – And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance
55:10 – And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures
55:11 – Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates]
55:12 – And grain having husks and scented plants
55:13 – Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
55:14 – He created man from clay like [that of] pottery
55:15 – And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire
55:16 – Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
55:17 – [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets
55:18 – Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
55:19 – He released the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together
55:20 – Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress
55:21 – Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
55:22 – From both of them emerge pearl and coral
55:23 – Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
55:24 – And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains
55:25 – Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?

One of the miracles of the Koran in verse # 55:19, please see the youtube video by clicking on the link below and experience that the two water from two seas do not gets mix up… and it was written 14+ hundred plus years ago and how would Muhammad know about this where he has never been out of Arabia… there are folks who first came to this verse and they saw the real picture and they went to there to see in their own eyes and they accepted that the Koran is not from Muhammad (pbuh) but the Lord of Muhammad, Jesus the son of Marry, David, Moses, Abaraham, Noah and Adam…

Just thought to share this with you all…

Peace be upon all of you!!!

What is healthy for children and other living things? Not Christianity and prayer. Faith healing kills hundreds of innocent children. The Christian religion teaches that the earth and its living things are for men to do with as they please. That has led to centuries of exploitation, pollution, and extinction of species. Wow, that's a scary track record.

        Sired Boston...

While I agree that religions "used unwisely" destroys the social frameworks of liberalisms freedom lovers, there is also the demoralizing fractions of social bigotries against the usages of this herb we call marijuana which is now being proven to be beneficial for many people who have cancer and seizures and many other physical maladies that prescription "drugs" cannot overcome... With 17 states now being given the "green light" by the DOJ for pursuing marijuana's medicinal usages along with 2 states legalizing it for recreational uses, I await the day when my state will legalize marijuana so I don't have to be phobic when smoking it... Not only is marijuana of medical benefits, the plant itself has thousands of other uses from textile manufacturing to ropes and soaps it can also be used to replace most things made by current lumber trades manufacturing of all mannerism of wood products from wood tiles to paper products...

What does you being a pothead have to do with anything?
Many states approve THC pills, which can give a user the beneficial effects of cannabis without the 'high'.

dude, to be a drunk before and now to admit you've obviously supplemented your alcoholism with weed.... =/ Can your poor brain just not function sober?

And yeah....we all know how great hemp is. lol

    Proper Planning

It is a terrible thing to lose your thoughts to permanent melancholy.
Logic replaced with dread and misdeed?
Why the same dreams and people?
Why the same shame and funeral?
My potion did not kill me. It doesn’t matter.
Open me and purge it. Make me a child.
Regrets adding up. Must balance the books.

The wrinkles in his fingers smelled of gasoline.
Tremble and swallow and wipe and push and beep.
The little smear looks more like a face than his face does.
Shut the visor with a tap.

He should have been smart enough to die before 50.
He should have been just that stupid.
