Rand Paul: Obama won't stop war on Christianity

Washington (CNN) – Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky devoted his speech to the socially conservative Values Voter Summit to “a war on Christianity” that is being waged by “fanatics of Islam.”

Much of Paul’s speech was a list of violence against Christians across the Muslim world, highlighting what he said was “not a little problem” and something that is “not going away quickly.”

“Across the globe, Christians are under attack almost as if we lived in the Middle Ages or we lived under early pagan Roman rule,” Paul said. “This administration does nothing to stop it and it can be argued that it is giving aid and comfort to those who tolerate these crimes.”

How is it that when people want to be free of Christian terror, they are labled as evil, and against freedom of religon. No one saying you can't be Christian, just to be Christian in your life and your spiritual comunity, but keep it out of our government and our lives. My freedom from religon is just as important as your right to belive in an evil hateful hypocritical god.

I am so sick of these racist rednecks. They can't think their way out of a paper bag, or, rather, a white hood.

And I'm sick and tired of apologists like you who turn a blind eye to what is actually happening in this world.

Agreed dave, thiestic apology is one of the biggest problems in our country. We need to tax the living crud out of all churches because they are in clear violation of there NPO charter, or we need a full out ban on thiestic views being expressed in public or sanctioned by our government. Thiests are all swine.

There is a difference between being outraged over the treatment of Christians in other countries by muslims and declaring the U S President is all for it because he is not sending troops into sovereign nations to defend them. Should we declare war on all countries that have large groups of muslims so we can invade them in the name of proptecting Christians?

Like I have said before, we need to vote the religious right wing out of office. Is this an attack on Christianity? No. I just don't want an evangelical writing my laws. He can be a delusional as he wants to be in his own home and I won't say a word. But bring it into politics, and there is no way for the outcome to be fair to a majority...only to those that follow the same belief system. Since there are a great many religions, with splinter factions of each, it is logical to realize that we are not going to agree on everything. I also do not like the false sense of morality being pushed by the far right. Religion does not have the right to treat everyone like they are the only ethical beings on the planet. Far from it. We have been trying to figure out how to be nice to each other since the first time strangers had to share a cave during a rainstorm. We can do it without calling on a higher power or asking him to intervene in our lawmaking. Should you hit people in the head with a rock? No, that's not nice. Should you steal another persons food? No, that's not nice. Should you block a woman from getting reproductive healthcare? No, that's not nice either. Should it bother you if somebody likes somebody else? Nope, none of your business. See how easy it is...........Ditch Mitch, ditch Rand.....move forward.

your laws are written by satanists, so do not worry about christians writing them since there no christisns in your government, soon you will learn what it is like to live under those laws.

Are you so foolish as to think that is true? First most politicians are practicing Christians of one type or another. Second there is no such thing as god or the devil. There is no place for faith in government only truth. Faith and truth are mutually exclusive terms.

If he cares so much about Christianity being attacked in other parts of the world, perhaps he should engage in a campaign of education and understanding rather than division. And for the record, it was the the church and Christianity that led many if not all of the crusades and persecutions in the Middle Ages...

    October 21, 2013 at 5:30 pm |
    • mickey1313

It was all of the crusades that is the definition of the term. Also, while Im anti Islam, the jyhad concept in Islam was created to generate a defence against the Christian terrorists.

Christians are seriously being persecuted all over the muslim world simply for being Christians and it's really sad. Whether you like religion or not, over a thousand Christians have been slaughtered by Boka Haram in Nigeria, drivebys are happening daily on churches in Egypt (killing two young girls at a wedding just yesterday I might add....) so I ask you??? Do you really think it's alright for muslims to treat Christians this way because of the Crusades...... (which happened 1000 years ago???) really intelligent David.... Muslims just bombed a church in Pakistan killing 83 people, (were Pakistani Christians involved in the Crusades???? Are they not humn beings???)

it is called RETRIBUTION, PAY BACK AND KARMA...THE ONLY CHRISTIAN WORLD IS IN EUROPE...RETURN BACK then you can practice your watered down religion all you like....ISLAM was the religion given to ATOM and EVE, once EVE ate from the TREE the people became HEBREWS AND from HEBREWS then to CHRISTIANS and from CHRISTIANs back to ISLAM......

Anyone who doubts that Christians are under attack are illiterate or have their heads in the sand. The attacks are Not only by Muslims but by athiests and other hate groups. Freedom of religion is quickly being abolished in the World.

Hey, its illegal for atheists to hold public office in appx a half a dozen states. It's perfectly legal for Christians to hold office in all 50 states. There is no war on Christians. None. There is only people waking up to the fact that mythology is mythology, including your insanity called Christianity. Stay ignorant, I don't care. BUt please get the heck out of the way of progress.

Freedom of religion. what a phrase the Christians like to pull out and use when their feelings are hurt. Freedom of religion to me means that I am free of the tyranny and foolishness of another persons beliefs. Keep it out of politics, keep it in your personal life and my freedom will not be trampled on. don't bring it to my door, either.

        October 22, 2013 at 7:03 am |
      • mickey1313

It is an attack, to take this nation back from ignorant Christians. You can believe what you want but facts are facts, and faith is simply openion. You should not be forced to take the hate that Christians spew. Theism and ignorance are the same. And ignorance and arogance walk hand in hand.

it is amazing to me the small minds of people who can only see what's staring them in the face. the ignorance of those who think "kaboom" and then there were people. I find it amusing how many scientists turn to faith while on a quest to disprove religion. I also find it fascinating the number of people who denounce religion, and have never experienced it..it is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and prove it!

We supported and propped up Mr Morsi in Egypt, Muslim brotherhood, slaughter of Coptic CHristinas occurred. We support and ARM the "opposition forces in Syria" which include al Qaeda and other radical elements, the looting and destructiion and killing of Christians occurred.
I believe we sent troops to the Sudan where Christians are murdered. Libya?
      In the US you say?
Several seminars by the us military listed catholic and evangelical Christians as akin to terrorist organizations.
Air Force base removed a Christian picture within an hour or two of receiving a call from an atheist activist. The activist proudly boasted he has the ear of the Air Force. Not an isolated incident.
Another Christian organization came under fire this week from the military. They grouped them in with terrorist organizations.
Obamacare law that requires contraception, no exemption for Christian churches.
Priest not allowed to say Mass for serviceman when "government shutdown".

There's a little-known chapter of Leviticus that was rejected by the Nicene Council:

"Ye may eat of the unclean flesh that has been throughly cooked to prevent Trichinosis, or processed to become ham. Upon those meats ye may feast with abandon. But looketh not upon the dirty dishes after the feast, lest ye be turned into a pillar of salt!

It could have been much worse. Suppose the Romans had executed Christ on the rack, by stoning him to death (that would have been consistent with local tradition), or slitting his throat?

Imagine all the Christians who wear cross necklaces switching to wearing bloody knives instead. Yeesh!

I like the "fish" symbol myself. The one with feet.
