In Syria, Muslims struggle to celebrate holy day

By Saad Abedine. Hala Gorani and Laura Smith-Spark, CNN

(CNN) - Muslims throughout the world have been marking Eid al-Adha, but in war-torn Syria there is nothing to celebrate. Most people are struggling to meet the most basic of needs: food, water, and shelter.

Their plight has been highlighted by Arabic media reports which cite a fatwa, or religious ruling, by a local imam which allowed people who are desperately hungry to eat dogs and cats.

Eating dog, cat or donkey is forbidden under Islamic dietary laws.

The imam in the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in the capital, Damascus, reportedly said at a mosque Friday that dog, cat and donkey meat could be eaten "after reaching a desperate need and the stores of food were inadequate to feed the population under the siege."

Yarmouk has been besieged for months by Syrian government forces seeking to flush out rebel fighters.

During the Eid al-Adha holiday, considered one of Islam's most revered observances, many Muslims around the world sacrifice a sheep and share the meat with the poor. It corresponds with the height of the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia that annually draws 2 million Muslims.

Outside Syrian, Muslims held more plentiful Eid al-Adha celebrations.

the muslim religion is the very reason this world is in a perpetual war, and its only getting worse.

"the muslim religion is the very reason this world is in a perpetual war, and its only getting worse."
It is getting worse because western nations and Islamic nations are co-operating in order for this perpetual war to get worse. The Koran or Holy book of Muslims encourages to kill and destroy infidels. Even though only a very minority of Muslims out of their national borders, all Muslims nations agree in giving a death sentence to those living the Muslim faith within their borders. Religious Muslim ideas are subsidized by government funds within Muslim nations. Therefore, the numbers of Muslims willing to be killed or kill grows by leaps and bounds. On the other hand those Christians that believe in a strict adherence to the teachings in the New Testament (also a very small minority) just believe in loving and praying for their enemies. They would not kill but they would rather die for their faith just like Jesus did. The governments where Christians are allowed to proselytize subsidize the idea of "fighting for one's rights" but takes out of the market of ideas the notion of love, compassion, mercy, redemption and love for all humans because those ideas are rooted with the origin of Christianity and the western world is just interested "in a secular world" free of religion. However, the western world is full of hypocrisy when it fights against secular Muslim dictators in order to put in place a more bloodthirsty religious "democratic" government in its place. Therefore this perpetual war is getting worse. However, we should not blame fanatic Muslims for it. The blame lies in the secular non Muslim world that wishes to be "free from religion" (I mean a thorough knowledge of what the Bible teaches) while subsidizing Muslims religious radicals fighting against their more secular government in order to impose a more stringent Muslim religious dictatorship.

Hey America how about you fight fight real dictators like Kim Jong Un and stop giving weapons to Al Queda so they can turn a sovereign nation of Syria into a muslim runned state that implement religion into their laws. Stop propagating that the government is the enemy so you can trick us into letting you do what you do and destroy the Syrian government and give an opening so an invasion into Iran. Its all so simple to see your real intentions. Help the Syrian people is all lies, getting to Iran is the real objective

Having a faith in God can be very comforting to some ppl. Most Christians do not judge or cause any kind of harm to others. Just let the peaceful followers of a God continue to enjoy and relish their religion.

Next Wednesday, Iran & Hizbullah celebrating 40 years of the The Beirut Barracks Bombings (October 23, 1983, in Beirut, Lebanon) when Iranin two truck bombs struck separate buildings housing United States and French military forces—members of the Multinational Force (MNF) in Lebanon—killing 299 American and French servicemen. An obscure group calling itself 'Islamic Jihad' (all report shows that organization becomes later Hizbullah).. it claimed responsibility for the bombings. The Irania person "Ismael Askari" was the responsible for the Americans death.
why you dont' punish the Iranin??? since that day the terrorist started all over the world & its center base is Iran & Hizbullah.. with a perfect cover of the Americans themselfs

President Bush after 9/11: "Our God is the God who named the stars".
How erroneous. Two-thirds of star names have Arabic names. They came from Islam's fertile period (AD 800-1100.) During that time Baghdad was the intellectual center of the world, open to people of all or no faiths. During that time were some of the greatest advances known to mankind: engineering, biology, medicine, mathematics, celestial navigation; this is the time and place that gave us numerals we use, terms like algebra and algorithm.

Enter Imam Hamid al-Ghazali in the 12th century. The fundamentally religious period of Islam begins, and so begins the steady decline of free intellectual expression in that area of the world. Some would argue that it has since never recovered.

As astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson explains, throughout history most of the great minds give virtually no mention to any god for their discoveries and explanations. (Ptolemy, Isaac Newton, Laplace, Huygens, Galileo.) That is, until they reach the problem they feel they cannot and will never fully tackle. Dr. Tyson demonstrates this with writings from the great minds in his talk "The Perimeter of Ignorance".

Perhaps that is all God has ever been – a placeholder for discomfort or frustration over the unknown; an excuse of last resort when, for one reason or another, one gives up investigation. It is at that point of discomfort over the unknown when one should remember what humanity has already witnessed: that today's scientific explanations were often yesterday's gods.

    Joshua,

Your using the fallacy argumentum ad ignorantium. "appeal to ignorance;" whatever has not been proved false must be true, and vice versa. Another creationist favorite. Using the argument.

Stephen F Roberts: “I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

Putting the kibosh on all religion in less than ten seconds: Priceless !!!

      • As far as one knows or can tell, there was no Abraham i.e. the foundations of Judaism, Christianity and Islam are non-existent.

      • As far as one knows or can tell, there was no Moses i.e the pillars of Judaism, Christianity and Islam have no strength of purpose.

      • There was no Gabriel i.e. Islam fails as a religion. Christianity partially fails.

      • There was no Easter i.e. Christianity completely fails as a religion.

      • There was no Moroni i.e. Mormonism is nothing more than a business cult.

      • Sacred/revered cows, monkey gods, castes, reincarnations and therefore Hinduism fails as a religion.

      • Fat Buddhas here, skinny Buddhas there, reincarnated/reborn Buddhas everywhere makes for a no on Buddhism.

      • A constant cycle of reincarnation until enlightenment is reached and belief that various beings (angels?, tinkerbells? etc) exist that we, as mortals, cannot comprehend makes for a no on Sikhism.

Thing is, I may not be able to prove that there was a Moses or an Abraham, or a world-wide flood or intelligent design in the universe for that matter, but I believe in them.

And I can't prove to you historically that there was an Easter (though there's certainly a lot of ruckus about it from many different contemporary authors, i.e. Josephus, for nothing to have happened) but I believe that it happened. I am not ashamed to say that I am a 20-year-old college student and I believe that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and resurrected Himself from the dead three days later.

Can I absolutely prove it? No. But as I have trusted God in my life, He has worked in my heart. The best evidence I can set forth for God is that of changed hearts and lives – my own and others'.

Majority of these people have no idea WHAT or WHO they are praying too....to the uneducated Islamist, many centruries ago, the MECCA was Mohammed birth place(he left at 6yoa, cause both his parents died–and was rasied by his uncle who was a PRIEST!), which was a paganist city. When he returned he took over and threathened the people that lived there to convert(with killing of course). They are celebrating what they call a VICTORY, they are proud of this. Innocent people died at the hands of Mohammed and his groupies. And they worship this? Before Mohammed killed people to take over the city, that BOX IN THE MIDDLE THAT THEY WORSHIP, was origianlly build with 365 gods that lived in it. The people that lived in mecca, came there everyday and brought offerings to the gods, until Mohammed returned back to his birthplace after years of being MIA, and destroyed the lives of MILLIONS...and this is the history on the MECCA and their holiday. They are still praying to something that do not help them. The devil owns all of them, and its so sad that they do no have a chance to know the truth about that they follow, they are slaves in their own countries. They have no voices and are controlled by the praying horn that plays 5 times a day; reminding people of WHEN they MUST pray. They only have hope, and whats worse; the god that they are praying to is going to leave them in the situation that they are in–because they devil enjoys pain, sorrow, sickness and grief. The pain and agony that these people have to endure-because they dont know any better. The muslims that live here, think that their god blessed them. When actually, our GOD is trying to have mercy on their sould for them to learn the truth, and they still are clueless! They dont see the big picture, and if you try to get them to see it they still turn their ear. However, there is a website dreated by X-muslims that know the bible and the Quran, and they bash Mohammed and his teachings. Its a really cool website that can help people understand why Muslims think the way they think and help others understand that his teachings are of great sickness, and it helps Muslims GET OUT of the way of thinking the way they do, and to help them in the truth. All theyhave to do it 4 things to get into heaven..pray 5 times a day, fast during ramadan,go to mecca and beleive that mohammed is the messenger of god. IF LIFE WAS THAT EASY, DONT THEY THINK EVERYONE WOULD BE DOING IT, but because we know that there is more to life than that..we are not easliy persuaded. THE TRUTH HURTS and they are not able tohandle that truth, thats why when most of them do..they do atheists, because they feel betrayed., however they understand that Mohammed copied from the bible, but they have been lied to by Mohammed and many generations behind them, and even Islamist who create the Quran are currently making changes to the book slowly and the people dont even know–its a sad–they are professional people of playing mind games–so next time you speak to one, listen very carefully...they have mastered the "ART OF PERSUASION"–beware, cause only the educated would know whats going on behind their scheme.

        A peaceful and permanent solution:

From the studies of Armstrong, Rushdie, Hirsi Ali, Richardson and Bayhaqi----–

The Five Steps To Deprogram 1400 Years of Islamic Myths:

( –The Steps take less than two minutes to finish- simply amazing, two minutes to bring peace and rationality to over one billion lost souls- Priceless!!!)

        Are you ready?

Using "The 77 Branches of Islamic "faith" a collection compiled by Imam Bayhaqi as a starting point. In it, he explains the essential virtues that reflect true "faith" (iman) through related Qur’anic verses and Prophetic sayings." i.e. a nice summary of the Koran and Islamic beliefs.

The First Five of the 77 Branches:

        "1. Belief in Allah"

aka as God, Yahweh, Zeus, Jehovah, Mother Nature, etc. should be added to your self-cleansing neurons.

"2. To believe that everything other than Allah was non-existent. Thereafter, Allah Most High created these things and subsequently they came into existence."

Evolution and the Big Bang or the "Gi-b G-nab" (when the universe starts to recycle) are more plausible and the "akas" for Allah should be included if you continue to be a "crea-tionist".

"3. To believe in the existence of angels."

A major item for neuron cleansing. Angels/de-vils are the mythical creations of ancient civilizations, e.g. Hitt-ites, to explain/define natural events, contacts with their gods, big birds, sudden winds, protectors during the dark nights, etc. No "pretty/ug-ly wingy thingies" ever visited or talked to Mohammed, Jesus, Mary or Joseph or Joe Smith. Today we would classify angels as f–airies and "tin–ker be-lls". Modern de-vils are classified as the de-mons of the de-mented.

"4. To believe that all the heavenly books that were sent to the different prophets are true. However, apart from the Quran, all other books are not valid anymore."

Another major item to delete. There are no books written in the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one) just as there are no angels to write/publish/distribute them. The Koran, OT, NT etc. are simply books written by humans for humans.

Prophets were invented by ancient scribes typically to keep the un-educated masses in line. Today we call them for-tune tellers.

Prophecies are also invali-dated by the natural/God/Allah gifts of Free Will and Future.

"5. To believe that all the prophets are true. However, we are commanded to follow the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings
        be upon him) alone."

Mohammed spent thirty days "fasting" (the Ramadan legend) in a hot cave before his first contact with Allah aka God etc. via a "pretty wingy thingy". Common sense demands a neuron deletion of #5. #5 is also the major source of Islamic vi-olence i.e. turning Mohammed's "fast, hunger-driven" hallu-cinations into horrible reality for unbelievers.

Walk these Five Steps and we guarantee a complete recovery from your Islamic ways!!!!

Unfortunately, there are not many Muslim commentators/readers on this blog so the "two-minute" cure is not getting to those who need it. If you have a Muslim friend, send him a copy and help save the world.

Analogous steps are available at your request for deprogramming the myths of Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Paganism..

    Quran says (Islamic Scripture)

“God: there is no other god besides Him, the Living, the Eternal. Never a moment of unawareness or slumber overtakes Him. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Who could intercede with Him, except in accordance with His will? He knows their past, and their future. No one attains any knowledge, except as He wills. His dominion encompasses the heavens and the earth, and ruling them never burdens Him. He is the Most High, the Great.” [2:255]

“There shall be no compulsion in religion: the right way is now distinct from the wrong way. Anyone who denounces the devil and believes in God has grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks. God is Hearer, Omniscient.” [2:256]

“God is Lord of those who believe; He leads them out of darkness into the light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are their idols; they lead them out of the light into darkness – these will be the dwellers of Hell; they abide in it forever.” [2:257]

“The example of Jesus, as far as GOD is concerned, is the same as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him, "Be," and he was.” Quran [3:59]

“It does not befit God that He begets a son, be He glorified. To have anything done, He simply says to it, "Be," and it is.” [19:35]

“No soul can carry the sins of another soul. If a soul that is loaded with sins implores another to bear part of its load, no other soul can carry any part of it, even if they were related. ... [35:18]

“They even attribute to Him sons and daughters, without any knowledge. Be He glorified. He is the Most High, far above their claims.” Quran [6:100]

The Quran is useless, even the paper that it is written on. How can the Quran half, 5 or 6 stories form the bible, and then all about Moahmmed and the way that he wants you to live and comprehend. You all have no minds of your own. CLUELESS, why cant you go get your own religion instead of trying to copy someone else..I respect a BUDDIST more than the Muslim culture, because they created their own belief, and didnt plagarized someone else book, and make it theirs. How can ou hate on jews when jews is the one that wrote the bible. Our GOD clearly states that Jesus is the son of GOD..YOUR GOD clearsly says that there is no son of god. Hell is your eternal place, have fun!

Don't forget the original book came first..and to share with you what the REAL book says...revelation 22:18-20....

For[a] I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add[b] to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away[c] his part from the Book[d] of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

        I Am Coming Quickly

20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

PLEASE ENJOY THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD AND HIS SON!

"Nineteenth-century agnostic Robert G. Ingersoll branded Revelation "the insanest of all books".[30] Thomas Jefferson omitted it along with most of the Biblical canon, from the Jefferson Bible, and wrote that at one time, he "considered it as merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherences of our own nightly dreams." [31]

Martin Luther once "found it an offensive piece of work" and John Calvin "had grave doubts about its value."[32]
