"There are 20 amino acids that are directly encased within the universal genetic code. Then, 2 more amino acids are indirectly used in the generation of proteins. This gives a total of 22 naturally incorporated amino acids which are called proteinogenic because of their function in the protein building process. It appears that the chicken (protein) came before the egg (DNA) because protein has a complete complement of the 22 building blocks."

Can we find an independent pattern of DNA transcription over 3500 years old that existed before mankind was aware of modern chemistry and computer programming?
The scriptures tell us that Moses was given the pattern for the candlestick for the Hebrew tabernacle in the wilderness while he was atop the mountain."
Will not go into detail here because of time and space, however the "7 unseen dimensions and the 22 almond blossoms engraved in the candlestick is symbolic of the 7 Spirits of God and the 22 letter Hebrew alphabet as given in Psalm 119. Note that there are 4 almond blossom in the main stem.
Curiously Psalm 119 is an acrostic with the first 8 verses beginning with the letter Aleph, the next 8 beginning with the letter Beth, and so on for each of the 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet."

That would be lovely, but Moses was mythical. There is no evidence for a man named Moses.
      Oops.
He was given nothing. All that imaginary dot connecting is nonsense.
We know from mutation rates, and radio-carbon dating, and all the other dating methods that agree, that DNA patterns FAR predated your 3500 year date.
It's becoming clear that ignorance of basic science abounds among the beliebers on CNN.

Btw, these were the types of questions that got me kicked out of Sunday school back when my folks tried to get me to believe in Santa for adults.

The nuns, after realizing I would not play along, told my folks, "Nick is just not ready for religion yet."
What they really meant was that since they could not stone me to death, it was better to just get me out of the flock before I corrupted any others in the brain washing program.

    For Austin,
"Elam was a son of Shem and grandson of Noah and he was one of the 70 patriarchs of humanity mentioned in Gen 10. His descendants settled in what is now southwestern Iran and they had a flourishing civilization, which later became overrun by other enti.ties including the Persians (Parac) and the Medes (Madai). The Medes were of Madai who was the third son of Ja.ph.eth, son of Noah.

    August 31, 2014 at 6:01 pm |
    • new-man

Although the Persians and the Medes now inhabit the region formerly known as Elam, they are actually of a different branch in the human family tree than the original Elami.tes. The Persians, Medes and most Europeans actually trace back to the family of Ja.phe.th in contrast to Elam who was of the family of Shem.
Other notable prophetic names from the family of Ja.ph.eth include the famous Mag.og from whose land comes the infamous G.og, chief prince of Mes.hech and Tu.bal. Tu.bal & Mes.hech are children of Ja.ph.eth.

new-man, this is horse shit, I think you should know. Try again tomorrow. There is far too much genetic diversity among humans now for the human race to have squeezed through the bottleneck the sons of Noah would have represented. You can only invoke magic here if you insist the story of Noah is true.

There is another son of Ja.ph.eth whose name is not so commonly mentioned but whose influence in history so far has been nothing short of phenomenal. His name is Ja.van – mentioned in Daniel 8:21 "And the rough goat is the king of Gre.cia... four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power...
Gre.cia is not in the original text; instead, it is the Hebrew word Ja.van which is translated as Grecia in that prophecy. So, the name that we now call Greece or Ionia is really the same as the name of the 4th son of Ja.phe.th, son of Noah.

We know but a little about the descendants of Javan and where in the world they may be right now, but we know with complete certainty that they have a call of destiny upon them. Their sons will be called to war against the sons of Zion and when all is said and done, it is the sons of Javan who will capi.tulate.
Zech 9:13 When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons , O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece (Javan), and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.

This battle according to Zechariah is going to happen in a day when the entire world is turned in hatred against Israel and Jerusalem, a day when Jerusalem has become a burdensome stone to the "united nations"." -CoH

I know what the creationist view on this question is, but I'm wondering what the atheist view is for this question: What came first, the chicken or the egg?

    August 31, 2014 at 5:28 pm |
    • niknakk

I think you still don't understand what the Big Bang is saying.
Nowhere does it say something came from nothing.
And no atheist I have ever heard claims something came from nothing.
Science says, and has cold hard evidence that the known physical universe came from a singularity, NOT from nothing.

      Let's ask you the same question;
Where did you god come from, nothing?
Talk about the proverbial chicken and egg question.

Face it bro, you have bought into a great big scam.

      August 31, 2014 at 5:33 pm |
      • khidir619

Can a real atheist answer my question? And actually give me a real answer, not an insult? In case you didn't realize niknak, you did everything but answer.

        • niknakk

          You didn't answer mine either.

And how did I insult you?
By saying you have bought into a lie?

Neither came first, the egg or the chicken.
That type of procreation method did not appear until billions of years after the first single called organism appeared on earth.

Just because science can't answer every question, yet, does not mean "god(s)" did it.

    @Flavorful Favorites "......"

Obviously, you are confusing the Old Testament Law —Mosaic Law— with the New Testament —Salvation by Grace through Faith— by quoting from the 5 Books of the Law —Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Since the Passion, Resurrection and Ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are no longer under the Old Testament Law, rather, we are in the "Dispensation of Grace." The Lord Jesus Christ freed us from the Law by nailing it to the Cross.

    John 1:16,17
"16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. 17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ."

    Romans 3:28
"28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law."

    Romans 8:1,2
"8 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death."

    Romans 10:4
"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes."

    Galatians 2:16
"16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified."

Galatians 3 (The whole chapter lays out the end of the Law)

    Galatians 3:13
"13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—"

    Galatians 4:4,5
"4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons."

    Ephesians 2:8,9
"8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."

    Ephesians 2:14-16
"14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, 15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, 16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity."

    Colossians 2:14
"14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."

    Acts 13:39
"39 and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses."

    Titus 3:4-6
"4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,"

Regarding Apostle Paul's notion on the role of women in the church, in extreme short, he was dealing with cultural constraints involving disputes among Jews and Gentiles and men and women entailing false prophecies and adherence to the Mosaic Law as opposed to Salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ in some churches that were distorting the "Message of the Gospel," the "Good News" of the Lord Jesus Christ, so he addressed them accordingly. Those rules do not necessarily apply today. Apostle Paul explained how accommodated everybody for the sake of Christ in some of his Epistles.

      1 Corinthians 9:20-23
"20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law; 21 to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. 23 I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it." (NASB)

      Regarding Matthew 5:17-20:

The Lord Jesus Christ was born in the flesh under the Law (Galatians 4:4,5) and ministered accordingly during His Ministry on earth; He spoke of that the Law would be binding until it is accomplished (Matthew 5:17-20.) That's why he accomplished it for us (Luke 24:44, John 12:47, 17:4 & 19:30, Ephesians 2:14-16, Colossians 2:14, & Hebrews 9:25,26) for no human can accomplish it (Romans 3:10-12,23.) Righteousness is imputed unto us through Faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Romans 1:17, 3:20-26 & 4:3,5,6 & Philippians 3:9.) The "Salvation by the Grace of God through Faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior" took effect after the Passion, Resurrection and Ascension of Christ, hence the end of the "Dispensation of Law" and the commencement of the "Dispensation of Grace."

A Woman's Punishment For Defending Her Husband = Cut Off Her Hand

"When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets: Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her." (Deuteronomy 25:11-12)

    Discipline Your Little Ones

"Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." (Psalm 137:9)

The Bible encourages disciplining your child... by throwing him against a stone wall, baby!

Doing so will apparently make you "happy" (if you're a sadistic psychopath, or if you hate your children.)

This is a dangerous encouragement of violence against helpless children and if followed, could easily be used to justify parents who shake their kids to death to make them stop crying or for simply just child abuse.

So next time someone's trying to prove that every passage of The Bible is beautiful and should be closely followed, ask them if they beat their kids.

Jesus never said one thing about a "new covenant" He thought the end-times were coming in his own time. As all the other apocalyptic wandering preachers-miracle workers, he was wrong.

Jesus said not a jot or ti'tle of the law would be changed, until "all things are accomplished". (Matthew 5:18) Are "all things accomplished" ? I highly doubt even you with your pathetic rationalizations would agree to that.

Therefore you are in State of Confusion due to your lack of Faith and Trust in God and in Jesus Christ God's Only Son. That State is as good as the ISIS. The church much less the USofA are NOT replacements for Israel. Those Laws were given to ISRAEL ONLY. The church much less the USofA are not under those Laws. The church, the body of believers in God and in Jesus Christ God's Only Son are covered by a DIFFERENT and NEW Covenant in Christ. Though we are not without Law.

    Deformed People Cannot Approach God

"For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken. No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God." (Leviticus 21:18-21)

Apparently, God reads US Weekly and takes it to heart. Although since he is all knowing and all powerful, then that also means that he reads every magazine ever written.

So it theoretically isn't an untrue statement that yes, God reads Out Magazine.

According to The Bible, people who are born with or acquire defects throughout their lives should not approach the altar of a Church to make an offering to God because they "hath a blemish."

Christians are always saying God loves everyone but this list of "or"s excludes a whole group of people who actually have no control over what they look like most of the time.

From something as superficial as a flat nose to once again with the "broken stones" (Women may be inferior in God's eyes, but he sure knows how to make a man feel worthless.)

Congrats God, you've found a way to hold every disabled and unprotected person responsible for things out of their control and make them feel like crap about it.

        Ending the confusion:

From my book of essential theology and history of religion–

The Apostles' Creed 2014: (updated by yours truly and based on the studies of historians and theologians of the past 200 years)

Should I believe in a god whose existence cannot be proven
and said god if he/she/it exists resides in an unproven,
human-created, spirit state of bliss called heaven??

I believe there was a 1st century CE, Jewish, simple,
preacher-man who was conceived by a Jewish carpenter
named Joseph living in Nazareth and born of a young Jewish
girl named Mary. (Some say he was a mamzer.)

Jesus was summarily crucified for being a temple rabble-rouser by
the Roman troops in Jerusalem serving under Pontius Pilate,

He was buried in an unmarked grave and still lies
a-mouldering in the ground somewhere outside of
        Jerusalem.

Said Jesus' story was embellished and "mythicized" by
many semi-fiction writers. A descent into Hell, a bodily resurrection
and ascension stories were promulgated to compete with the
Caesar myths. Said stories were so popular that they
grew into a religion known today as Catholicism/Christianity
and featuring dark-age, daily wine to blood and bread to body rituals
called the eucharistic sacrifice of the non-atoning Jesus.

        Amen

If You Disobey God, You Will Eat Your Babies

If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me, 28 then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over. 29 You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters."(Leviticus 26:27-30)

If you break even a single one of these rules, you need to eat your children. Doesn't matter how old they are, doesn't matter what you do, but if you disobey God and his ways, he's going to wreak some serious havoc.

Women Must Cover Their Hair During Prayer

"But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head..." 1 Corinthians 11:5

Wait, so why the hell wasn't I allowed to wear hats in church?

Fundamentalist Christian women seem to have forgotten this basic rule of church attire reminiscent of Islam. The Bible should have clarified what it means to dishonoureth one's head. Most women walk around with their hair uncovered in all styles in modern society and men aren't having too much trouble keeping it in their pants.

No Bastards May Enter the Church

"A bitched shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord." (Deuteronomy 23:2)

A bitched is someone who was born outside of wedlock, which means you were born before your parents were married. Being born out of wedlock makes you filthy, apparently; so filthy in fact that it takes ten genetic steps down the line to wash how filthy it makes you.

So your family's 100% awesome to come to church in like a century or two if you're a bitched, which I guess is fair.

Of 266 Popes in all, 32 were martyred, 6 were murdered. John XXI was crushed when a church collapsed on him, some said it wmurder (early conspiracy theories). Several others were alleged to have been murdered (a dozen or so, most recently John Paul I). Francis' sangfroid is admirable, given the history of the job. Apart from the early marytyr's, though, popes have had most reason to worry about other Catholics.

The history of the popes is a disgusting one. One pope died of a heart attack while with a prost!tute, several were well known ped0philes, several ordered murders, many lived in over the top opulence. The RCC is well known to be one of the most corrupt organizations that has ever been.

They started to make progress along the same track as communication has grown. As comm lines increase, it is more difficult to hide things. It is really amazing what some of those guys did when they only though "god" could see them...now there is much more external scrutiny.
Look into the Vati-leaks scandal (first brought to light in Jan 2012, so quite recently), when the Popes butler gave the RCC a much deserved black eye, and exposed the high level of h0m0$exual behaviors in the highest levels of the vatican ( and since they view being gay as an abomination, other deviances like ped0philia must also be accepted. It is a very sick culture.)
It is estimated that one in 5 vatican clergy are practicing h0m0$exuals...more than twice the normal rate for humans.

The facts are that men have worshipped thousands of gods, yet there is no evidence for any of them.
The truth is that we do not know what the truth is, if there are any gods, or not, if there is some sentience behind the universe or not, or if life itself is a naturally occurring energy, like heat, and electricity.
Claiming your BELIEF is truth, is a lie, though you could honestly say ( maybe) that it is what you BELIEVE to be the truth.
I don't know why religious people don't understand the meaning of the words truth and belief. I don't see why they always get those confused, but you absolutely have, and as a result, you lie.
